That one is bad. It has begun to twist the splines. On the next few hard launches the shaft will twist off. Mine was tweaked less than that I bought a 300m because I was replacing some syncros anyway.

I did. After I replaced my worn one with a 300M most of the clunk went away. Now I have to replace my mildly warn spool

I actually didn't notice any clunking noises. Mine literally had so much rust in there that it was effing tight on the coupler , I actually think thats one of the reasons it never completly stripped, after cleaning all the rust off , I bet if I put it back in it would be clunking like hell and it would probably be completly stripped within a week .

but on monday the trans will go back together with a new output shaft / clutch , pressure plate , throwout bearing , slave and master cylinders.

soooo hooray

Hey Venetrex, does that combo from mantrans look pretty good? I just bought that one but I haven't got it yet. I pulled my tranny out and found out my os and input sleeve are shot.
Have any of you guys had your tc looked at cause of the recall? I don't think my car ever made it in for that. It sat for the last 5 years until I bought it. Just curious because I wonder what the dealer would if I brought it in?

Hey, my 90' model GTO is in the shop at the moment. Initially it was in for some new synchros and bearings in the gearbox but then the the mechanic told me the output shaft was worn too. Through much turmoil the shaft is now being resplined which shouldn't cost too much. I am a little worried though that this shaft may break at some point in time as I do intend on upping the power. If it breaks, could someone give me an indication as to what happens if You're travelling along the road? Does it just keep rolling to a stop or is it something considerbly worse (all 4 wheels locking up etc.)?
