I was wondering what the typical break-in period for a clutch is? Is it different for kevlar/ceramic versus organic or 6 puck vs full-faced? Anyone who has put a clutch in, could you list the kind of clutch, how long you broke it in for, and how it is currently holding up. I am specifically looking for break-in info on my stage 4 southbend. Thanks.

I've always broke it in for about 500 miles of stop and go driving NOT highway miles. It will take longer driving on the highway because you aren't engaging and disengaging the clutch as much as you would going from stop light to stop light.

I like to avoid launches and hard shifts for the first 500 miles of city driving. I do/will go WOT though. Freeway miles don't count cause you don't use the clutch. I did one in a honda one time and the manual said 25-30 normal starts from a stop for break in. Haven't had an issue with any of the new clutches in any of my cars.

I managed 300 miles of stop/start town driving, Exedy Daikin OEM clutch. As people have said it`s only really setting off that breaks them in when it`s slipping against the flywheel.
If you`ve got a Cerametalic puck clutch that goes out of the window, I didn`t need to break in the Helix puck fitted to my Golf 16VG60, gearbox broke before the clutch even thought about slipping after a years abuse..

i looked at the instructions for the clutch and it said 750 miles. I think that seems a bit excessive. one of my friends told me the biggest thing is that it engages smoothly and it gets a proper heating and cooling cycle.
