Default Clicking from driver side front wheel well. CV Joint boot is fine. Any ideas?

I recently replaced my alternator, new wheels, and changed a wheel stud on the driver/front wheel.

Week or so later I started hearing a clicking sound above 30mph, now today its worse, and it clicks even when Im barely moving. If I move really slow it clicks really slow, and same as when Im going fast it clicks fast.

it doesnt do it all the time though, and when it does do it, it does it when Im turning, going straight, backing up, neutral, accelerating, etc. So it doesnt seem like the typical cv joint Ive read about.

Also the boot is fine, theres no cracks/holes and theres no grease anywhere.

any ideas?

There is a shield over the bearing at the block for the intermediate shaft (the spot where your drivers axle attaches to the shaft. Sometimes they will pop loose and rattle in there causing a noise like you describe.

I had this same exact problem you are describing. Short version, it was my brake pad hitting. I had a warped rotor, and when the rotor spun around the warped area it would make contact with the brake pad and move it up in the calipor bracket, slamming it againt the bracket. hard to picture without seeing it in action. But to verify this is what i did. First off I knew it was brake related because the noise would stop if i touched the brakes, that is the first sign. Then i jacked he car, and took that wheel off, and spun then hub by hand, and sure enough i saw the brake pad move back and forth in the bracket. You have to spin the hub fast enough tho. Hope this helps.

have the car on jackstands, wheel off. Spinning the hub I cant get a single sound out of anything, boots are fine, no grease anywhere. Brakes look fine, not moving around or making any sound.

Can I check that shield over the bearing from under the block? I guess I will just play with everything under there seeing if i can find anything. maybe take the caliper/rotor off and reinstall them, tighten the hub up or something.

I dont want to replace anything if I dont know forsure its broke.

my problem was the engine motor mounts, the noise would get increasingly louder as a decelerate from a high speed so I got them replaced and the noise is gone.
