Default Can someone diagnose?

1991 RT/TT 18 spline. Ran low on fluid and something exploded. Dark magnetic pieces in the fluid (whats left of it). It shifted fine into all gears after it went, except it was rough to shift into reverse. Would this be the rear gear synchro?
Brought it to a shop but they can't do anything about it, I don't even know if the3y took it apart, they just said they can't fix it (because its a "rare item", they can just replace seals or whatever), so I have to do it myself.

could be bearing pieces, could be synchor pieces, could be slider pieces. I couldn;t tell you unless I had it apart.

Whatever it is, would it be a safe guess that it shouldn't be something horribly difficult to replace?

I think if it ran low on fluid you face the possibilty of having to replace every bearing in the trans and reseting all the bearing preloads. might be cheaper to buy another trans.
