Wheels In Hand...
|
I was looking at the manual an it said to heat it up to 230ish degrees before installing. Will it need to still be pressed on or will it slide on? Also, if it needs to be pressed on, does anyone have a suggestion on what tool to use along with my press to get it on? I'm considering getting the mistu part but wanted to check here first.

I have an old deep fryer that I use to heat parts like that up to 350deg. I seldom have to press anything on when that is done.. If I'm pressing on a new bearing, I often use the inner race from the old bearing as an impromptu driver..

I used a heat gun and heated my sleeves up to 130F and they slid right on but you have to do it quick cause they cool pretty quickly. If you need to press it on then a steel pipe with cap works nicely to press it. The dia won't be perfect so use the press to bend the pipe end into an oval until it works.

go to autozone and buy an exhaust coupler that will work...I keep everything I've ever used to press something on near my press so usually I can cobble up a couple things...exhaust pipes and old trans parts usually fit the bill. Don't heat the sleeve too much when installing as it will temper back if you go over ~325-350F. Usually, when heated, they slide most of the way on but if you are not quick about it and get it seated, you will need a press.
