No, this is on the INSIDE of the bellhousing.

The only thing that I would be concerned about the 5 speeds is gear clearance. I'm not sure if it's the same as the 6 speeds, but it's probably the same.

I wasn't aware that the 6-speed trannys had problems inside the bell housing?

Thanks Chris. That makes the photos soooo much easier to understand now I've been confused for the last day looking at these pics

It's an issue with the material around the intermediate shaft's bearing race not being structurally sound enough to handle the power we're putting down.

The shaft tries to separate itself from the input shaft gears when they mesh together, it's a pushing motion that only increases with torque.

big dumps and repeated launches will cause the bellhousing to crack and spill it's guts.

Maybe Saturday. The tranny itself is still at my local trans shop getting one new bearing, Supercar Engineering shift forks, and a quick inspection to make sure I didn't miss any damage from the old piece of shift fork bouncing around in there. I looked pretty hard and didn't see any damage besides the front output shaft bearing cage that took a hit. I told the shop I needed the trans back today but I didn't get a call. I'll get ahold of them in the morn and tell them I'm going to miss the NOPI race this weekend if they don't get it back to me tomorrow.

I still have to replace the rear head bolts with ARP studs too...the front head is done though.

Ya..6spd's have issues..here is my 3kmile trans.....inside look to further explain what Trever is attempting to prevent....

^ Looking from the inside of the bell housing (notice were the cracks are?)

^ Closer shot of the backside of the bell housing^

^Side shot, cracked up through both sides of the stater housing^

^Complete cut away of the broken parts..

^Center body of the bell housing...cracked all the way across...

Trevor, im hoping this work's out, , however it may still crack along the side's of the welds. Weld's are only as stong as the material you are welding it too..even with the billet reinforcement......Didn't mean to seem like im high jacking your thread, just giving members the idea of were the 6spd crack,..that looks awsome tho.........
