Please Please Please use dummy bearings to keep distortion in check like Mr. Kormex says. The heat from the welding will temper back the raceway hardness. Bearing life drops exponentially with hardness. You may not have a cracked tranny, but you'll end up with a shot bearing in a relatively short period of time if it tempered enough.
Good Luck...Looks great.

The bearings are specific to W6MG1 box?
I live in Brazil and this car is very rare. I''m in the final TD05 process and would like to get my trans reinforced. Unfortunatelly I didn't found the bearings to use as dummy. Is there any other trans that uses same bearings to search for? Would some good soul sell me a set of old bearings to use as dummy? Don't forget I live in Brazil and need it to be shipped. |

Good to hear about!
I do not have the trans apart yet, so I not even been presented to the bearings. I assume if the bearing are common metric, I can use any bearing with same external size to use as dummy? It will let me the things a bit easier to do. |

Hey, sorry I haven't read the thread (I know, shame on me) but does anyone know if PO Machine is still doing these beef up plates? I have my tranny apart right now due to some other broken goodies and was wanting to go ahead and have this done while it's in pieces and removed from the car.

Thanks dude, I'll take a look. As for deciding between Trevor and Ray I'm sure both are great setups; I'm looking for quickest return basically. |
