Default Its emissions time again...

... And I'm having a hell of a time getting the car passed. Actually, the problem isn't smoke, cats, or anything that will cause it to fail emissions. I just can't seem to find a place that can even complete the test.

I have had the car on three seperate emissions dynos, and each one has had a problem getting a consistent RPM readout. Although the tach and datalogger both show steady RPMs, none of the testing machines get a good reading off of the ignition wires. They basically have to abort each test. After trying to get the car passed for several weeks I am at the point where I really need to get my tags renewed beore I start racking up tickets.

Does anybody have a suggestion on where to go in Northern VA for an easy pass?

When I lived in MD I would raise enough concern about the possible damage the AWD tread mill could do to my car that they would just do the static exhaust sniffer test. The car would pass and I would be good for another 2 years! Since the testing facilities are unable to perform the test on their dyno because of equipment problems then ask them to do the static test. If they refuse them ask them to provide you a written statement on why their equipment cannot test your car so you can provide it to the VA emission board to request an exemption.

I'd try that, but its FWD.

Regardless, it appears to be a problem with their equipment.

That's what I did to my other car, but I am able to park that in a private lot. I have to keep this one on the street though, and the cops in Alexandria love to write tickets.

I found that the throttle sensor was slightly off. I recalibrated that, although I highly doubt that the TPS was causing the problem on the rollers.
