Default window regulator problem...

So my window rolls down about 3in's then starts to slide by itself and when i rolls it up it makes a clicking sound. So i figured my window regulator is going out on me, considering that is pretty much the only thing in the door. I found a used regulator at a salvage yard for 175 bucks and its from a 1995 base i believe. So i my question is: are the window regulator year specific at all or can i use one from any year.
I have 1997 SL.
Thanks

They're not all the same! 91-96 are the same, 97-99 mount differently.
If you still need one I have several pass. sides for $100 each shipped.
