Default Where to find VIN on engine block?????

I've got a 92 JDM engine and tranny that i bought and I need to find the VIN for them. I know where its supposed to be on the transmission but it wasn't there what-so-ever and it didn't appear to have ever been there. Where on the engine would the VIN be stamped? I need this particularily because there were differences in some of the part numbers for the 92 year transmissions.

TT engine/tranny swap

Fixing a few problems and she'll be back on the road!

There is no VIN stamped on he block, and even if there were it wouldn't be found on anything JDM since they don't use VIN's.

There is, however, an engine number. Its found on the rear of the engine (flywheel side) kind of in front of cylinder #5, it's 6 digits.

Would that be the number stamped in the same place as the engine block code is?

I see...

Alright, maybe you can answer this.

Are all the 18spline 5 speed tranmissions the same internally? When I was tryin to get synchronizers/seals/bearings, even though I knew that I was 18spline 5 speed, they still wanted the VIN #.

Do you think that the only way they look up the parts through their computer is with the VIN and thats why they wanted it?

From whom are you tryin to get parts? I would imagine you could simply get the correct parts based solely on the ID on the tranny itself...
