Nothing matches up with what you've said.

Drivers side:
  • Green w/blue stripe
  • Green w/grey stripe
  • Green
  • Black
Pass side:
  • Green w/grey stripe
  • Green
  • Grey w/red stripe
  • Black
ughh what a mess. Thanks for your help!

those really sound like 3kgt harnesses. none of that is feeding your reverse/backup lights...correct?

let me check what else i've got sitting around. i will say that the r/t's DEFINATELY had 3 wires.

BOTH left and right sides of the r/t harnesses i have are wired with the same three color wires. only difference at the connector (vs. the 3kgt) is that when viewed from above (looking down on the release tab) the right most slot is not wired on the r/t harnesses.

if you still have your 94, take it out, and examine the harness on it. or examine the one on your es/base. my hunch is that someone probably put a stealth base/es harness in your R/T out of ignorance.

since the r/t harness has a small bulb...it would make sense that your turns worked...tails didn't (i.e. large bulb works, small not hooked up).

like i said, you should be able to re-wire it on your own--if you're up to it.

otherwise, find someone parting an r/t, and buy their harnesses.

Correct.

My next step was to take a look at the other 3s's I have conveniently laying around

I'm way toooo busy in the summers..... I just need to snag a friend for a while to press buttons and pedals until it is figured out!

I was more curious of the couple of plugs back there not connected to anything. I'll go snap a pic in a bit.

i don't honestly know what all that stuff is, sorry. i'm not that good.

i don't have extra wiring floating about in my 95 3kgt. in that first pic, i see more than 4 wires on the top one...so i dunno.

i'm in over my head here. i hope someone with more wherewithal can jump in.

Lol, thanks man. Thats why I was wondering what they were because there is a lot of wires hanging there... and everything (but the taillights) seems to be operating fine.

I just got in from trying to fix this again. Any chance you know what wire is brake, signal, parking for what you have listed above? My wiring appears to be OK going to the light it is further back where the problem is. Apparently brake & signal go on the same wire? Or is it brake & parking? Is black a ground? Or does it ground through the housing?

I can get either brake or signals working. Not both. Something must splice together to get the 4 wires down to 3 at the light.

Sooo a few more hours of searching and reading and it seems that the extra harnesses in my trunk are for 3kgt wiring. Apparently all 3s's came wired for both setups.

I am still stuck on my lights though. Is there supposed to be a relay or something else that turns off the brake light when the turn signal is on? These have to run on the same bulb/wiring... at least that is what seems to make sense to me.

Anybody? please!
