Default Tach not working

I have been after this problem since I swapped the motor and trans to a DOHC.

Was told I have the wrong Tach/guage cluster, only to get what was supposed to be the right for it to still not work. The car has been parked for over a year now and I have since taken interest in the project again. I have tried a after market tach straight out of the ICM under the wire that says "Tach" or something and still no signal. Can anyone please help me get thru this, could it be the coil pack is not sending the right signal/busted.

Also, the idle is way off, idles real high at cold start and then will drop to stalling at lights and such, I thought this maybe a symptom of the bad coil pack to. I did replace the IAC but that was no help.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Default Re: Tach not working

Well, no response, been a few days.

Guess I'll keep plugging away at it, in hopes of finding the trouble so as if anyone else runs into this there will be a solution.
