Default Sunroof Problems

The 97 SL I just bought has a sunroof that doesn't work. I can hear the motor going back n forth when I hit the buttons but neither the glass or sunshade will budge. Ive tried pushing lightly, etc... Ive never messed with a sunroof in these cars so Im not sure what else I need to do to get it working again. It almost sounds like whatever is supposed to pull the roof back is broken or unhooked. Any pointers would be great. TIA.

Yes its stock, even says so in my owners manual. It has a small glass square on top of the car, controls are working its just not moving. I even tried the handcrank that came with it, the crank moves but the sunroof does not.

Is it not supposed to be glass or something? The top is glass and It has cloth underneath, i've never seen a sunroof upclose in one of these so Im at a loss. I guess everyone just leaves theirs alone and doesn't try to fix it when it stops working?

post some pics as to what you have ..the 97 to 99 cars got a sun roof..that was smaller then the 92 to 96 cars...meaning the 97 to 99 cars had a panel that was body color..and the 92 to 96 cars got a whole glass top...now you say you have glass which leads me to guess that you have an aftermarket unit...which pretty much no one could help you on this one...like i said ..post some pics...so we can better understand what you have...thanks

Ok thanks for clarification, I just have the panel. Not an entire top. It is just the stock sunroof.
