ok, so i did this little mod, and it worked, because i cannot seem to trigger my alarm. However, it still went off unexplained at 7 this morning.

update,
THis mod was ineffective on my 96, i thought it was working, but now the alarm goes off every time i open the door without unlocking it with the key first. my remotes are working, but not disarming the alarm, and im at a loss. There is a 3rd horn mounted on the drivers side front wheelwell, sorta behind one of the motor mounts, i disconnected that thinking maybe it was a dedicated horn/siren for the alarm, but that didnt work, as it does infact use the main horns.

Yes, yes they do! Louder is better unless its 7 or 8 in morning and without reason.

I think it's a good how to. But can't test em out. Theyre both in use with lojack.

Seems to me that the 91 has the different ETACS.?? The rest I believe are the same. The hood sensor needs to be bent up on the random alarms.

Sounds like there's (was) another alarm too.

im thinking it must be the hood switch causing my problem. I THINK, im not sure, but i think this alarm problem started after i had installed my foglights, and i used the bolt mounting the hoodswitch to ground my foglight relays (yeah, its a real clean install ) Ill have to tweak the bracket and go from there.
The weird thing is, the alarm always goes off in between 7 and 730 am. If i had to get up at that hour it would make a nice alarm clock, but my apartment building doesnt agree.

Sounds about par for the course just bend the sensor up. Just to be sure we're talking about the correct sw I've attached a pic of it. It is circled in black.

The factory alarm on my UK spec only uses the third horn near the mount for the alarm. Maybe interfering with the third horn causes the general horns to be used instead?

If the alarm was going off, that horn is pretty easy to find and chop the wires from, wheres as the general horns aint so easy to find.

this is first gen... i think the wire is different on a second gen?

Look up your "alarm disable" wire on a electric manual.

cmon i put the disclamer
Quote:
6. Locate and isolate the larger plug. On that larger plug youll notice a light green wire in the corner. There are actualy 3 light green wires in the 2 plugs.
But the larger one on the corner is the one you want. You may have to cut back some electrical tape from that plug. I removed all of it(about 4 inches of it). (THIS IS confirmed for FIRST GEN, i think its the same for 2nd gen but verify).
The only thing that "should" set off our factory alarms are when someone opens the hood/trunk/door when the alarm is armed.

Do you alarms go "armed"? then go off in the morning.

Thats wierd about the "morning" alarm... Hmm i wonder if its heat based, or light due to the "morning"...

this puts the alarm in "disable" mode and if everything is working correctly it should shut it off, but if someone had had another alarm installed... Or maybe cut that alarm disable wire...

To make sure I guess you would have to trace the alarm disable wire at the ecu? and make sure its grounded. Its like your ground(on your alarm disable wire) is not making it to where it needs to go.
