Default Hard start when hot

After i drive my car for awhile, and shut it off, and then try starting it back up in five mins, it hardly starts... I have to pump the gas, and when it finally starts I have to rev it up for about a min or two then its fine. It also starts perfectly fine when its cold... wondering if anybody has had the same problem.. thanks David

I have the same problem, although its not as severe as yours. In my case, its because the my car isn't holding full fuel pressure once the car is shut off. I haven't been able to track down the source of the pressure loss.

My problem was as bad as yours until I tore apart my entire fuel system. I checked all of my lines and I even tested my fuel pump for leak back using bucket of water and I couldn't find any leaks. Once I reinstalled everything the problem had more or less fixed itself. My car holds pressure when its off, but just not full pressure.

If I were you, I'd pull your fuel pump and make sure its not leaking around the fuel pickup - fuel pump connection. There are o-rings in there that can leak which will result in pressure loss/leak back. You can check to see if its leaking using a bucket of water.

My issue is a little different. When the car is cold and im idling, if i press on the gas and let off quickly the car's rpms drop significantly, stalling some times. Is this common with these cars?

Mine does this sometimes as well. My fuel pump relay was fried and my car wouldn't start. I bypassed the relay and resistor as per:
http://www.stealth316.com/2-fuelpumprelaybypass.htm

Very rarely now my car will do the exact thing when warm - very low and rough idle that will die. Once I rev it past ~3k, it'll clear itself and everything will return to normal.

This is quite common and in most cases caused by fuel control solenoid on the firewall. When engine is hot solenoid applies atmosphere pressure (instead of vacuum) to the pressure regulator. The idea is to make car run richer first couple of minutes. To test this theory in your case connect fuel pressure regulator to plenum directly and see if it help. It's a part of vacuum reduction mod.

Good luck
