If you have them in parallel it will actually be less restrictive than stock as the oil will have two paths to choose from. Stacking them like that will surely have a negative effect on the rear coolers efficiency though. If you want max effort cooling you need to give them both their own ambient air.

If you've listened to Todd Shelton's (StealthTT) oil cooler posts I'm sure you've heard of them. Setrab (and Mocal too) produce THE best oil coolers on the face of the earth. Formula 1, CART, Nascar...most cars use Setrabs. Their design and manufacturing techniques run circles around the run-of-the-mill coolers. Problem is you pay the price for them. The coolers I got measure 7.5" high, 8.25" wide, & 2" thick. That's the most cooler I could fit where the stock IC's used to go...after all I still have FMIC piping going thru that area. I made up cardboard mockups to test fitment of the coolers and the 125's were it. They were $165 each and the four -8AN fittings were $25.
any idea how the setrab coolers compair to perma cool's coolers? this one says it provides up to a 95*f drop in oil temp, also what are the pros/cons of coolers with multiple pasages for the oil to flow (setrab) vs coolers like the one here?

That's a tube & fin oil cooler. It flows well with minimal pressure drop.

The stacked plate (or plate & fin) design like the Setrab cools better but flows worse. I've seen claims of a 35% efficiency increase over the tube & fin type.

I guess it depends on what you want. If you want the coolest oil go with the plate type and if you want to maintain high pressure thru the cooler you can run a tube type. Then again if you're a big nutball you can run two plate type coolers and get maxmimum cooling with minimal pressure drop.

Right on.. I'd have already done this myself if I had a center mount intercooler. cooling the oil is a very good thing... I plan to get a larger and better oil cooler at some point... for now front mounting the stock one helped a tick or two on the stock oil pressure gauge

Keep us updated on how well this works out. I've been talking to another board member about this for 1.5 years now. I'm just not home to mess with the car. Guess I'll just let you test it out first

Very interesting... I looked at going with an aftermarket Setrab when I did the oil cooler/ DSM intercooler install. Thanks for the mention btw. Since I've already got all the lines and connections I was thinking it would be easy to do in the future, looks like you've already found a great sized one, though I may want one with a bit less width and more length, I'll have to look into it.

Also, thanks for the info on the Mugen thermostat... waiting for mine to get here. I'm in TX, so I know exactly what ya mean about the temps.

Trevor I have the opposite issue when it comes to oil Temperatures. It takes a long while for my oil temp to start to rise and then it usually only reaches 70 - 75C. I think this might be too cold. Isn't there a minimum oil temp? Keep in mind that my oil capacity in the engine is 10 quarts and this may have a bearing on the oil temp. Regards Chuck
