LOL we both are brianwashed. I was going to come back to this thread after I thought about exactly what you posted. My dad HATES painting black cars. He has turned down some jobs just because he didnt want to do it because the person wanted black. If it was sooo easy Q4 then why would he, my unlce who also paints, and Yellow's dads's friend all hate doing black??

Point taken. I can see how every imperfection would be noted. I've owned a black car, and this pearl white car - and I was basing my statement on the confidence most bodyshops around here seem to have when it comes to repaint/color matching between these two colors. Pearl White has shown to be most shop's worst enemy - while they seem to just shrug black off their shoulders as if it were not a problem at all. Beyond that, its about as far as my knowledge goes on the subject.

Thanks for clearing that up guys - learning something new every day.

Color matching is a different story. Matching any kind of pearl paint is a BITCH if you are only do a partial repaint(i.e. just a bumper cover or whatever) Case in point may dad painted my cousin's Neon this burnt orange pearl color. Its something like the color on the newer Sunfires etc. He had some areas that had to be redone on the passenger fender and door. He taped everything back off and redid them. In the sunlight the shade of the color is very different.

One thing to add in the 19 years of my dad painting cars he has done a total of 2 black cars. And probably has close to 100 paint jobs under his belt if not more. He talked me out of painting my car black, then when my brother was talking about doing his Neon in black my dad told him he wouldnt touch the car if my brother was going with black.
