Default Need some help!?

Hey all,

So Like a week ago I was driving the Vr4 and on my way home it started idling high, about 2k. Other then Idling high it runs the same as always. I posted a topic in the main forum, but didn't get much response so i figured i post here. I checked the IC pipes thinking there is a leak somewhere (and still think that might be the problem), but everything seems good. I checked and replaces the IAC the yesterday, but now i just have more problems. It still idles high at 2k with the new IAC, but now my accelerator pedal is super stiff and i cant push it down at all.

Eric you probably know the most about my car, any ideas? I just don't know where to starting searching for problems lol. If anyone has some free time this week and could come look at it, it would be much appreciated and i'll buy lunch or something. I have wednesday and friday off this week.

You need to do a boost leak test. The throttle issue is the cable or throttle body linkage binding after messing with the isc.

+1

To do a boost leak test, you basically need to find a way to pressurize the whole support system for the turbos. Best way to do it is to take a PVC elbow, cap one end and tap a valve stem in there. Make sure that the valve stem is pretty sealed. Then, you are going to hook that up to the compressor side of your turbo where your intake would hook to using a flexible pipe sleeve connector and some pipe clamps. Then, use an air compressor to pressurize the whole system. The best solution I have used to check for leaks is some water with a little dial soap in it in a spray bottle. You spray along all the piping and see if there are any bubbles....if so, you have a boost leak. This is a very BASIC discription of how to do a boost leak test but hopefully you get the idea.

So something like this:

Stealth 316 - Intake pressure tester

I have FMIC and dual dejon intakes. So would I hook the pressure tester up to the IC pipe from the throttle body?

Yep, something like that would work. Though I like using an elbow piece better because it makes it a little easier to use.

Well if u use a valve stem instead of a quick connect then u good just use an air compressor at a gas station.

This is by far the SCARIEST thing i have ever read on 3SI.

Take the intake pipe off at the TB. Check for proper throttle plate function. Have someone else in the car while you watch the throttle plate. Maybe your throttle cable is caught up on something or snagging.
