Mitsubishi Blue smoke on take off!! any suggestions??

I just replaced my IAC motor this morning, completely fixed the idleing prob. didn't touch anything else, but when I got home noticed oil press. dropped alot during idle, however looks fine during normal driving...also now blows a bit of blueish smoke at take off...any suggestions as to cause and maybe cure?? I changed my oil about 3wks ago and put 5w 30 full synthetic...went back today after noticing smoke and changed again to 10w 40 full synthetic.

Had same problem. I changed out the valve stem seals and it solved the problem. Down side however, 3,000 miles later I threw a rob bearing and now needs a complete rebuild. These cars can be extremely frustrating to own.

Thanks, I will check that...I think the prob. pretty much solved itself after the oil change, but I will check the pcv also...and I may just go ahead and replace the seals anyway I'm eventually gonna have to do it

Sounds definitely like VSS - especially at take off and not at any other time.

There a pretty neat tool that you can make (or borrow mine) that lets you do them in the car with the heads still attached. Parts are about $12 at THD. I've never done mine in the car, but the write ups say that you can. I've used my tool with the heads off the car and it works very nice.

Mitsubishi Re: Blue smoke on take off!! any suggestions??

Hey thanks alot that would be great! We carried mine out last nite with a friend of mine and his 911 carrera and played a lil and it did fine...but once this morning it did it just a little bit again....and btw these things will definately take a 911 carrera, we really put em through the paces last nite, then we both buzzed a 01' SS camero walked em in 3rd then spanked em @ the lite! all in all even with the VSS issue it was a fun nite.
