Default Well, the car is done.

For those who don't know, I bought a car that was half apart with a "valve tick", put it all back together hoping for lifter tick, turned out to be a MASSIVE rod knock (the guy must have known, he lied to me), took the engine out, started to tear into it, decided I was going to take the easy route and buy one of those JDM engine deals, got one and replaced all sorts of parts such as timing, thermostat, plugs, wires, radiator, oil cooler, the list goes on... then put the JDM engine in as well as a stage 3 clutch. I had to swap over some vacuum hard lines, some EGR stuff, and my precats.

It's all in. At least for the most part. I have it together enough to start it and drive it up and down the driveway, but I have a short list of things to do before its really road worthy yet... here is my to-do list:

• Figure out why power steering no longer works
• Sounds like one brake is dragging... antilock light is on too.
• Fix passenger side window (fell off track?)
• Shorten my custom oil cooler lines
• Fix 1 torn exhaust hanger
• Fix ripped passenger side CV boot (no emergency)
• Non working driver side lock button (no emergency)
• My one muffler has a hole in it or something (no emergency)

As soon as I get all that stuff done, I'll be reupolstering my seats, getting a new shift/ebrake boot, doing a front end swap so I don't have pop up headlights, re-spray my car black so its shiny again and all one color, then maybe by then I'll start to find it slow and want to dive into performance related matters. That's the plan, anyway.

I can't wait to be able to attend events and talk 3S with other 3S owners/lovers. Maybe someone has a spare stock muffler sitting around I can get for cheap until I have the money for Borla?

Cheers!

I live in Ringoes, NJ. It is a really small town just outside of Flemington, NJ in Hunterdon County. I've never really seen anyone around. I see a red 3000gt N/A every day but it doesn't look like an enthusiast owned car. I also once saw a black 3000gt where I work/go to school (Raritan Valley Community College) with some stuff done to it. I wonder who that might be.

On another note, I just purchased a really neat double sided swivel 10/12 mm metric line wrench and borrowed a double flare tool. I'm going to go see if the wrench fits, and if it doesn I'm going to try to replace that power steering hard line today. That's the only thing I'm really worried about... seems like a doosy and I've never worked with the stuff before.

Wish me luck. I guess since it seems like a few people care, I'll keep reporting back.

Not too many people from Hunterdon Cty, but there are a few from Somerset, Morris, Mercer & Warren that may be able to help. I'll let them chime in on their own. I think it is a little farther but a few in Middlesex and Monmouth too.

Well, I finished up the vacuum lines last night. I was hoping this was causing the problem, but the engine still has hesitation... it doesn't rev right when you mash the accelerator. Seems fine if you just gently rev it, like when your going to engage the clutch, but I'm not sure if the problem is just more noticable at WOT or if the problem is only at WOT. It also seems to hesitate more at lower RPM's than higher RPM's.

I figure, since I have to pull the timing pin, I'll double check the timing tonight. Then maybe it is time to look at my ECU. Then I'll try and pull the code it throws after it runs for a while. Maybe run through the vacuum diagram again and see if I crossed something somewhere.

So much work.

Is the engine bogging when you go WOT? Do the dash lights dim briefly? Fuel mods? Does the RPM's dip and then rise? Or does the RPM rev high then lower?

"It doesn't rev right" isn't enough for us to help you

Could be as simple as the idle just needing to be properly set... I always tell people to check that before spending money lol.
