your gonna need and want new trans fluid, make sure u get a new throwout bearing with your clutch, and possibly depending on how bad the flywheel is you may wanna get it cut or buy a new 1, if you need someone to do it, im down in central jersey and ask around i try to b quite helpful and do a lot of work for most the people on here.

theres a guy by me, like 2 miles from my house, Vernon NJ, called Finish Line Automotive ( I have his number if you want it), he's a good friend of ours, he replaced my engine twice, another stealth owners engine and he put in a new spec clutch for me.

thanks guys for inputs.
Since I am a newbie I would like to know what kind of clutch I should put. I do not want to drag it or anything. just eveyday normal drive ( may be 100mph on highway for 5min a month ) It is 1999 3000gt SL>any price range I need know? other these people could do it at home? I thought it needs to be drop tranny or something. Thanks. by the way it has centerforce clutch before from previous owner. I am absolute newbie for MT. i have know idea what fly wheel cost me. also someone mentioned clutch master cylinder or something. should I change it at the same time? i better change tranny fluid at the same time? how much extra cost ? Thanks. PS: where in central NJ? thanks. |

if you have alot of miles on the stock flywheel consider getting it resurfaced or a new one... maybe get a lightweight fidanza flywheel? I think they are like 400 bucks... check out 3sx or some of the other vendors they have all the clutches that are definite fits for our cars.
congrats on the 5 speed 99 SL I also have a 99 5 speed SL; there are very few of us! got any pictures? Where'd you get it? how's the condition of it and what not? |

Spec Stage 2, got 8000 miles on mine so far, NEVER slipped once after break in. AMAZING clutch, very forgiving and grabs well as well, and I drag race with it, If your not intending to make a 500 hp motor, its the clutch to get
SPEC Clutch 3S NA FWD*-*Mitsubishi 3000GT*/*Dodge Stealth You can probably get it cheaper elsewhere, I got mine for $300 shipped new off the boards. |

If you aren't particular on any clutch or do not care about performance, you should be fine just getting the stock clutch and flywheel. No matter what clutch you decide to go with, I would reccommend getting a new STOCK flywheel. The South Bend Stage 1 clutch is also a good alternative. It goes for about $175 from IPS Motorsports.
Matt is in Toms River. And yea I'm sure he's got the utilities to do it at home. Where by the bridge are you? If you are looking for a place local, I just had my engine rebuilt at a place in Saddlebrook, which is like 15 mins from the bridge. I can talk to them if you need some work done. They did my clutch, too. For stock OEM parts, check out Rockville Mitsubishi. Their prices are pretty reasonable.
