Default Re: -= Ultimate Emanage Tuning Thread =-

short answers...
stage 1 can do SD speed density (add and subtract fuel)
stage 2 adds timing control only. Nothing controls air, only your right foot.
stage 3 definatly NOT needed and is mainly advanced features. A/F target, controls fuel w/o affecting timing.

its best to have your fuel controller do the data logging

meth is a fuel, and depending on your % vs water will determine how much richer you will have to comphensate for by lowering your SD airflow output numbers.
Meth will help with knock and allow you to run more boost but your tiny stock turbos just dont have anymore in them, sure they can spike boost to ~27psi but most can only hold 10psi in the upper RPM's and they just dont move much air anyway.

Best way to go SD besides the Ultimate. Maybe MAPECU. Not sure about MAFT pro.

Dude! You already have the BEST piggyback EMU availible!
dont sell it and buy some other crap. Trust me I know!

Well it depends on your goals...
If you want ~90% of your power quickly then get a MAFT or something w/ 5 knobs to tune.

If you want to be able to get 100% of your power by a profesional tunner (or learn yourself) then use your Ultmate.

cut that stupid boomerang harness off, climb under your dash with a soldering iron, and connect the 6 wires (only 5 for SD!) needed for stage 1.
get it working, then connect the 6 more wires for stage 2.

then sell me the stupid boomslang harness
na, I wanted one but now that I have mine NICELY hardwired in, I dont need one.
btw, If you choose to go speed density with your Ultimate, I can sell you a Greddy pressure sensor, resistors you need for the barometer and a temp sensor all wired up and ready to plug in (plug and play)

BTWW, 1.37 bar is over 20psi and not a good idea on stock turbos.

damn thought it was a higher then 17 psi.

and the pressure sensor and harness thing . well everything to go speed density. hell yeah i'll buy it. how much?

and yeah after thinking about it. i'm just gonna buy the greddy harnesses and wire it up my self. i dont know if the boomslang is done right or not. its cause me so many problems.

and the water/meth 50/50
dont want to go with to much meth just yet.

I recently purchased Hand Held Halo OBDI v3 for my carpc too. I hooked up my wideband o2 on the EGRT ECU input and on the EMU at the same time and no problems. This allows me to view wideband o2 results and knock sum in real time integrated on my carpc frontend software, and gives me an audible beep if I exceed knock>6. This is much better than my previous scanmaster 3 setup I had before (no audible alerts), and I placed a little history graph beside the AFR and knock to see peak values, etc. So yeah if you can provide HHH datalogs that'll be sweet too.

Target AF map is no longer limited to just injectors (stage 3), it can now do airflow map (stage 1) thanks to the newer greddy software/firmware.
Speed density can be done at stage 1 as already mentioned.

When you go to Meth/water injection you'll have to lean it out at WOT.

Yeah, The boomslang harness kits also delete wires that "they don't think you need" from the harness that goes into the EMU. I don't like that. Soldering and crimping isn't hard. I soldered in my harness in my car and had no problems. Gives me a good bit more space behind my console than others I have seen as well. Also, I don't like the exposed lead ends sticking out of the back of the harnesses.

Angry Re: -= Ultimate Emanage Tuning Thread =-

yeah well on my boomslang i bought. i noticed that some of the wires are not hooked up right. like for the water temp. there is no wire going to the emu. it just goes to the stock ecu and skips the emu. instead its connected to a pin not listed in the emanage book. in the book it shows where the water temp sensor wire is and its 2 pins to the right. thats where its connected. but that was just a quick glance. i'm going to have to look at the whole thing now. since it has me worried and if it was hooked up wrong that would be why i'm having a hard time with the damn thing.

that doesn't sound right. There isn't anything 2 pins to the right of the water temp input on the EMU. thatpin sits in the middle of a group of 3. it's best if you double check all your boomslang wiring to make sure it is hooked up accurately. (honestly, I would reccomend just buying a greddy harness and wiring it in yourself. it will allow you to do more stuff later on, like work warning lights, additional injectors, individual fire ignition, different types of throttle bodies, nitrous control, etc. etc. etc. the possibilities are very vast)

Well, I said I could sell you everything you needed to go SD but I cant.
The Greddy pressure sensr that I have reads 7psi with the car off. Must be a 2 bar sensor or something. Good thing I tested it before selling it to you.

Although I can make a plug-n-play harness including the temp and baro sensors for $50 shipped.
all you would need to buy is the presure sensor and harness from Mohd parts

I'm finally up and running with my EMU/WB/carputer. Now I can study all the kickass info in here, and proceed to finishing off my poor old 6g72
besides the FIRST PAGE of this (long) thread, can anyone suggest any good "primers" on tuning? I really need to review the basics before I try to begin altering anything.
I've bookmarked many many pages of "tuning basics/tuning 101" type writeups, I'm just looking for suggestions of what the best are?

Also, I know it's absolutely useless to try to explain here without posting logs/maps. what are the steps for posting them up here on the thread?

you will be fine as long as the sensor is near your air filter, like taped to it.
There is no reason to put it in the manifold.
