I am looking into using the EMU on my 19T setup in the future so I have been trying to learn as much about it as possible before hand.
One interesting feature to me is the A/F Target Map. The EMU supposedly uses this map to auto fill in the values for some other map? So you can tune once w/ auto tune and then tweak things?
Who uses this feature and how well does it work? I am a little scared about starting from scratch with tuning, esp. since this is the first time I will be tuning anything.
I used it. It works very well. It works as specified as long as you have it set up right.
Don't worry about tuning from scratch. Just follow the instructions exactly on the first page of the thread where Blackstealth pasted in the instructions on how to do it.
I read the same thing... however I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Without pulling the -1 on timing I will see knock counts (as high as 20) on random hard accelerations (usually when the car is cold). 02 voltage is full rich when this occurs.

have you any feeback of this new version !
we can see a new map for read inputs like airflow hz & A/F in fonction of boost presure and RPM
it is the data sampling map !
EDIT :
i wonder if this map ( data sampling ) is OK !
if you put 1 or 2 options or 1 or 2 temp sensors,
you should have the possibility to select an option or a temp sensor for log !
but it is allways A/F or airflow available !
is it a bug or not ?

It has a lot of fixes for rotary engines (separate logging of leading and trailing ignition and primary, secondary and primary 2 injectors).
It adds a sensor logging function that allows you to log the output of any individual sensor at different loads and RPMs. Great for MAF elimination.
They added a "universal" engine specification that allows you to configure any of the inputs as needed. Really big step!
They added the ability to switch the polarity of the ignition signal so that you can run pull-down ignition boxes with a pull-up ignition pulse or vice versa.
There are other features that I haven't explored yet.
The new "data sampling" map works. I just had it overlay wideband AFR over a rpm/boost chart.
Two things
- it seems like when you go thru cells it displays the last sample it recorded when you leave the cell or stop sampling. I don't see any options for displaying average, highest, or lowest samples.
- Anyone figure out the "Upper T.P. Sampling" field in the top left corner? It only seems to work when set to "0". I tried a bunch of other numers thinking this may unlock averaging mutliple samples but it doesn't reocrd anything then. I wonder if you maybe put a letter in there...like "A" for average or something to that affect.
On the FC Datalogit software for the Power FC (RX-7's) they had a data sampling map like the Ultimate just added. It made tuning stupid easy and fast. The only thing it had going for it is you could select if you wanted to average the samples in each cell or just display the richest/leanest sample recorded in each cell. If the "Upper T.P. Sampling" field unlocks something like that we'll be golden.

It's throttle position. It only samples when the throttle is above that setting. IE 90 for 90%+ thottle if you only want full throttle samples.
Could anyone please give a detailed explaination of the A/F Target feature for me?
What are some of the issues with setting this up properly?
What type of tuning method are you stuck with when you use this (ie which map does it tune for you?)
I have searched over this thread but I didn't find one single good post explaining this feature in detail. It would be much appreciated, as my car is
currently waiting on a new shortblock install, rebuilt and ported heads, 120k maint, new clutch and 19T installation.
After the engine and clutch break in period, fuel and EMU are going in!
Could anyone please give a detailed explaination of the A/F Target feature for me?
For A/F Target map you need to populate the map ahead of time before using. For 14.7 AFR (cruising) fill in a "-" minus sign so emanage won't interfere with the closed loop circuit of the stock ECU, for all other engine loads, fill in the appropriate AFR number.
You need stage 3 wiring, as emanage communicates with the fuel injectors directly to get the job done.
So does the emanage fill in another map for you based on the A/F target map? Or do you always have to be running in A/F Target mode.
In Other Words: Can I let it use A/F Target to tune some other map and then have it run off that , or do I need to be sure that my Wideband 02 is working perfectly at all times.
Does anyone have an A/F Target map they will share? Since I'm assuming this is a lot easier to share and have work almost the same as far as a tuned out map.
Also, I assume the boomslang harness is stage 3, so I will need the Boomslang harness as well as the injector adapter harness? Is it easy to get the injecter adaptor harness or are there still supply issues with that?
