Yes. Is there a problem with running it that way? When I plugged it in to the laptop it detects it but it doesn't show up in the removable devices. I thought that I'd have to disconnect it from the host. Any ideas what the problem could be? The active light doesn't come on when I turn the key. Do you think running XP under VMware is too slow for communicating with the e-manage? I might try installing XP to a separate partition to see if that works.

I had a lot of programs not working properly under VMWare, that's why I asked.
I ended up installing XP on a separate partition and I got the EMU to communicate with my laptop. I need to update the software and firmware to the same version.

it worked fine on vista 64bit . i run it as administrator in compatibility mode with XP .
have not checked with vista32bit.
XP works fine for EMU
I have Vista 64-bit and I kept having problems with the window popping up for the usb cable drivers even after I installed them. I don't have any problems at all running the e-manage program. In Windows 7 I've had to run many things in compatibility mode but for Vista that hasn't been required. I'll probably just stick with XP anyways because it works. The only reason I use Vista is for the DirectX 10. It's turning into a project getting everything done on the car but I'll be glad when I can start it up and drive it more than the 20 feet I've moved the car since I bought it.
hehe. i bought 2 weeks ago especially for tuning that laptop with 10'' screen, 7 hours battery+ car charger of course XP on board
some of my friends usually using old IBM's with windows 98 (thinkpad model) or something. it is long lasting battery and it is bulletproof. Also has COM connector which is rare today and you do not have to fight with USB-RS232 switch.

you can have it for few $ to use only in car.
I thought about picking up a netbook specifically for tuning the car but I needed a bigger, more powerful laptop than those could offer and I'm glad I went ahead with it. I've got a power inverter I can bring with me if I'm going to be tuning more than a few hours at a time.
is there anyone here with similar mods to mine that can provide me with a good map to start? Please send me a file at suuperxero@yahoo.com if you can. I have:
evo 16g's on JPDC adapter plates, PTE 680's, cx racing front mount, 9:1 Ross Pistons, 3sx rods, AEM Tru boost, AEM wideband, AEM Meth injection, EMU w/ speed density setup and boomslang harness, fidanza flywheel w/ DXD FE clutch, 300m output shaft
Lookin to run a low boost of 15psi and a high of 24-27psi
For those of you using the GM IAT, did you have to edit the temp adj table at all? What under hood temps are you seeing?
I edited mine but that was because I found some settings that supposedly worked better. I haven't gotten to try them out yet because I'm rebuilding the engine right now.
