I am trying to piggyback the LC-1 WB with the Scanmaster. The serial output on the LC-1 is a 2.5mm stereo jack, and the analog input on the scanmaster is a 3.5mm stereo jack. I bought a 2.5mm - 3.5mm adapter from RadioShack so that I coult plug the LC-1 output into the scanmaster. But when I display the analog input on the scanmaster, it sits at 10.0 and occasionally spikes up around 11. I know that the LC-1 is outputing between 13-15 AFR like it should, but the scanmaster is not reading that.
From the searching I've done, the only thing I've read that should be changed is that the analog 1 and 2 should be reconfigured to 0v=10.1 and 5v=20.1. But I don't see how changing the analog outputs would change the serial output. The analog 1 and 2 outputs that you can configure are just the yellow and brown wires, and not the serial output that plugs into the scanmaster. I tried it anyway, and it didn't change anything. Also, the info that I have found by searching is for the LM-1 and not the LC-1. I'm wondering if there are differences that are complicating things.

So how do I convert a single wire into stereo? A stereo plug has two channels and a ground. Do I just hook up to either channel? And do I have to ground the plug also? I guess I'm a little confused on exactly what the scanmaster is looking for..

Ok, I think I've got this all figured out. In case anyone is searching for info on this in the future, I'll do a quick write up of what I did:
For LM-1 users, this is pretty much a simple plug and play install. But for LC-1 users, theres some re-wiring that has to be done. If you cut off one end and strip back the wires of the 3.5mm male-to-male cord that comes with the Scanmaster, there's two wires, and within each of those wires there is a small insulated wire thats either white or red (I believe white is input 1 and red is input 2). All you need to do is splice one of the analog outputs from the LC-1 with the inner insulated wire from the scanmaster cable. The wiring that is wrapped on the outside of the smaller insulated wires is the ground, which is not needed. Then you can go into the Scanmaster configuration menu to display the analog input as air-fuel ratio as the default O2, depending on which input you used. Then you just configure the analog output that you are using from the LC-1 using the LM programmer to 0V = 10.1 AFR and 5V = 20.1 AFR. |
