Arrow Reseting ECU?..need advice

Ok I'm looking into buying a 91 vr4 but the seller says theres "SRS" BATTERY " BRAKE OR ABS " lights are on..and says he got it checked and was told the ECU just needs to be reset..is it true?

what could be the problem...? thanks

Not reset, it just needs to have the code cleared. Of course if there is really an issue with the SRS system it will just come back.

Remove power (disconnect the battery for 20 seconds) then reconnect it. As pointed out above, if there is an issue the codes will come right back...

SRS uses it`s own computer, probably a clockspring fault (I`m sure you have to get this reset at the dealer?). Battery light means it`s not charging, ABS uses it`s own computer and probably has a wheel sensor fault.

if the cars engine was swapped..does it make a difference?maybe thats why those lights are on..cus the ECU is not matching or something?i dont know?

bcus the seller changed the engine and has a JDM engine..same vr4

None of the lights are from your Engine ECU, maybe he`s knackered some wiring under the hood for the ABS warning?, Airbag computer is under the centre console.

The SRS light sometimes lights up when you let a battery die in the car...i mean let it go completely dead. The dealer actually has to reset it for you, unhooking the battery does not reset the srs light. It resets the ECU though if other lights are on.
