Default Reprogramming Stock ECU seems possible!!

Well I ran into this article under the 3000GT section, so I am assuming it applies to 3000GTs. I don't know the extent that this can reprogram.

3000GT ECU is not EEPROM. Therefore its not programable.

The only exception to this seems to POSSIBLY be 1998-1999.

EEPROM or not, read the PDF. Aparently you can edit settings with the MUT-III

Mail-in tunes suck. That is just what I want, someone else's tune that I can't even change. WONDERFUL.

Well instead of just making a smart ass comment, can you explain what that PDF means then? Did you even read the PDF? Is it just a big lie that government put out?

All I am looking for is an inteligent explanation of what the MUT-III can do as far as changing settings, IN ACCORDANCE with that guide. It's not an obscure website, it was a TSB put out by mitsu

Nice find on the pdf. I did read thru the pdf and one major sticking point was the statement "all vehicles capable of PCM reprogramming"

I've seen it discussed a few times and it was shown that the ecu has read only chips. If they are read only chips, fixed set of instructions and programming... then you can't reprogram them. No matter what a pdf says. Even if it was possible I think those MUT-III are pretty expensive.

Gray get's a bit touchy when someone questions him but I'd pay attention. He knows his st*t on these cars. This has been looked at before. Either way I agree with cbehnken, I want to have control either with a piggy back or AEM. Stuff that I can program and change myself. I know a guy at work that owns a VW turbo beetle. He sent his ecu in for programming to go with the kit they sold. He wants to upgrade a few things but he's not sure if he can now since he has zero flexibility with his tune.

As Gray Haze already mentioned, only 98-99 models can be reprogrammed. The older 91-97 models cannot.
