Having to tune the car is expected, of course. Its the mysterious changing tune that is the problem. Once its dialed it should stay.

I had a problem like this on one car, and it turned out to be a flaky connection in the MAP sensor harness. Just sitting at a light, it would go lean by like 20% all of a sudden. It would fix itself later on. I really think there is an issue like this with your car.

Since the tune was stable in AFC mode, I would think we can eliminate the fuel system and ECU. A temperature shift drastic enough to cause a "can't even get it out of the garage" issue should be easily noticed on the logger or Pro.

The MAP sensor is the logical next thing to look into.

Speed density has really only 3 things that control its fueling, RPM, MAP and IAT. Every other element in the calculation can't drift or do odd things.

Anyway, I'm sure we will nail it down. I reconnected my O2 sensors so I could track how much my trims wander, and its about 10-15 counts worst case. I incorporated all my "tune" numbers into a new VE table. Its pretty good. It is attached. I logged a 15 minute drive both with TunerPro, and MMCd. I will post them below.

I'm going to leave it alone and log every drive for a couple days, cold starts and warm starts and post them as well.

here is a tunerpro log of the drive

www.bailey-eng.com/TunerProLogs/new ve.adl

here is the mmcd log

http://www.bailey-eng.com/MMCdLogs/2..._30_new_ve.PDB

(I logged it thru the Scanmaster, the Wideband is shown as battery voltage, and the vehicle speed as the ISC value)

The tune is a quick parking-lot hack, but it drove really well. I'll log some coldstart stuff tomorrow.

(note the time in the PDA doesn't match the laptop..... gotta fix that.)

Ok. I will try the new VE table. All of my connections should be sound since they are all soldered (aside from the baro and airflow are using the pink spaded quick connects provided so I could go back to afc easy, they are soldered into the harness tho)..... unless I have another connection gremlin like I did with my airflow out on the Pro main unit wire early on when the car would stall if i moved the unit at all, bending that prong somewhat seemed to help and never had the problem again while in AFC mode and I am not seeing it hit zero on the logger anymore either. Let me plug in that new table, try retuning again... and see what happens. I will get you a good log of trying this again while its running well..... then again the next day when I suspect it will be off again.

Sorry, I'm sure this has already been answered, but this is a very long thread to skim through. So is the timing control available now, and if not what kind of time frame are we looking at? Will anything else be required (I hope to be running it speed density as an EBC). Thanks.

Ok... I am gonna just go ahead and go back to AFC. Gonna take note of what happens with trims and overall tune stability from day to day, then maybe go back to Speed Density if anyone can ever send me a tune that I can confirm doesnt work either. I cant figure out whats wrong with my setup such that a one days good tune is the next days horrible tune. I also have a stock idle, not raised, so I am not certain thats the cause or not as Rustang says his idle is raised to around 1k RPM.

Bob,

Is this something you would see in my log? I sent you a csv file log that showed what it was doing when the night before it was tuned and running fairly good and smooth with good trims. Next day pig rich all around and would barely run, even after 10+ minutes or so of rev/drive time. Even leaning it out seems to have little to no affect on the tune. Should I get you another adl file before I call it quits (not sure if you can use the CSV file)? BTW my map readings seems to be really stable, never really noticed it make abrubt changes out of no where.

I didn't get a file from you. Please resend it.

Send the adl file please. I can make CSV's from it if the mood strikes me.

On the car with the flaky connection you could see it on the MAFT Pro display.

Send me a log of running well, and running poorly with the same tune, and the BIN file you were using....

Ok I just got what you wanted.... a REALLY long file with the car actually suprising me much as it didnt cause me any grief and the tune seemed to be in check. Then, after about 20mins of driving stop and go delight it starts driving horrible again. Looking at a log now, the Freq out seems to be bouncing ALOT at idle, (28-90hz), while the MAP, MAT, TPS, RPM are pretty consistent.... I am gonna have to find a bigger Floppy tho to get these logs to you... they are bigger than the floppy I have now can take.

ok, cool.

Drop your bin file in the mail as well......

I think I know where to look.

my car is dead consistent, as is Rustangs.

BTW, I should make another post...... MAFT Pro Horsepower record stands at 606! Then the car twisted the driveshaft in half. It was Donnie Short's GN.

my wideband shows 14.7:1 around town consistantly and WOT is right at 12.2:1 at redline (w/m injection tune)

it idles between 14-15.5:1 depending on how warm or cold it is
