Hi, it's been a while since I posted on this forum. My car went into storage and I didn't worry about my surging idle and stalling. I'm not going to take over the thread again but I have one quick question.
i saw a post on page 58 with the temp sensor in the plenum. Is it bad to have mine in the y-pipe? would that explain my surging idle problems?

mines in the Y pipe and its perfectly fine
a surging idle is usually caused by a lean condition

That was me trying to hide a sensor and thinking that the airflow across the sensors element would read relatively accurate #s. Now I have noticed ALOT of temperature fluctions in my IAT, and its getting much hotter than is really possible....so much its really affecting my tune. The IATs body seems to have a big affect with the engine heat and being bolted to the motor (having it fairly close to the rear turbo exhaust pipe probably doesnt help matters either). DO NOT do the intake tapping like I did, I actually am moving mine over to the Y pipe right now to get a more stable and more accurate IAT reading.

I was going to say the same. While being installed int eh manifold has theoretical advantages, being positioned close to glowing, red-hot iron is going to cause issues...
So, for all who are tuned in, it seems that the Y pipe install is the best for us. Bob |

Bob also believes it could be a dead area of airflow where mine is located as well. Which makes sense. Plus the extra heat. You have yours in that area where all air passes thru a single channel, mine is in the middle of the surge tank. It may only be seeing very little amounts of airflow across it. We will see for sure soon enough.
