just some guy.

I just finished reading through all 47 pages in this thread. ok, from what I have read, most people use this as a speed density convertor, but ti can also be used with a GM maf. also, I gether that teh highest rpm adjustment point is right under 8K rpm. I am interested in getting one of these things to replace my MAF-T, just had a few questions...
1. Can it directly replace my maf-t (i.e., can I plug my ls1 maf into it and program it and ride), or do I have to buy extra sensors. 2. Can it be tuned for rpms over 8K. I plan on revving my car to 8.5-9K and I may need a little extr addjustment after 8K. 3. I have been told that the unit can self adjust to match a target A/F ratio from a wide band controller at WOT. will it do this irregardless of the rpm, or is 8K the limit for the unit 4. Are the adjustment maps all rpm based, or are there air flow vs air flow corrected maps available. 5. how soon will the timing control be available, and will it be able to handle rpm's above 8K. 6. (dumb question that I could look up, but since I am asking questions) What would be the price for a unit that works with the ls1 maf, and timing control, and pc connection (that may be a standard feature, but I wasn't sure if it required a special cable like the e-manage)

Ok so when you say tune on the fly do you mean actually hit any button even if it is scrolling thru menus/etc? The car seems to want to cut out everytime I push a button, regardless if its changing any parameters or just navigating...... normal?

Ok, I am not sure I am feeling the same thing... the car wants to die instantly as I hit a button, any button, even if its just browsing. Is this what you are describing as tune on the fly?

the save happens 3 sec after you hit a button. the Pg button is the exception, since it doesn't change anything.
when it saves, there is a slight stumble, at idle it can almost stall. Like I said its fixed in the next version. Are you configured Speed Density, or AFC? Bob |

AFC right now with stock injectors no corrections with the MAP sensor connected but the Baro/IAT leads (Gray/Brown) are not connected. Also what gain # is a good starting point with the Hi pressure solenoid?

Rustang Cobra,
After speaking with Bob last night he indicated you had troubles with your boost solenoid vacuum lines being reversed, causing ill effects when trying to adjust your setting. Apparently this would net you a target boost overshoot followed by a drop to wastegate pressure. I am having this problem, but have verified and verified again that my vacuum lines are arranged per the documentation that came with my Maft Pro. Can you please confirm which side of the solenoid is SUPPOSED to have the pressure side, and which side is the actuator side? The documentation is showing the pressure side to be on the same solenoid side as the gold muffler thingy, and the actuator side being the solo bung on the other side. Please advise asap, so i dont have to pull that damn stock Y Pipe off again. TurboBob, If the documentation is messed up it might be a good idea to have it corrected, I spoke with Mike at Full Throttle but he couldnt say for sure if the docs are correct or not he just instructed me to change them around..... Thanks, Rob |

Turbobob,
I have replicated where this surging/bucking is coming from when I was just navigating before. I started wiggling/shaking/etc the harness with the box lying on the passenger seat but nothing was detectable. Its only when I pick up the unit... and the harness having heavier wires actually slightly move/flex the plugs/ckt board internal to the Maft Pro body and causes extreme bucking/hesitation/surging while driving (again no buttons pushed). Not sure whats going on internally... but it seems like some bad contacts/internal plug/ckt board support. I can replicate it by applying slight pressure to the 10 pin plug while driving... which moves the internal ckt boards I guess. I am going to try to remove some wire loom which could be making my harness quite a bit more rigid and use Tape so the plugs arent "holding" so much of the weight. I did use 1/2" loom with all the wires fitting pretty tight inside, and taped every 6" or so to keep it tight... so my harness is probably a bit more rigid than normal. Rob Quote:
