I dont know what your problem is... but to me it just seems like a horrible idea to throw on a tuning tool when you are already having problems with something. I know you were thinking its the MAS, but since it sounds like its not you may want to revert back to it and go from there.

Turbobob,

I am about ready to start my install... I have a pic here of where I am thinking of placing the IAT.... let me know if you think its ok. Its the back side of the upper intake surge tank abit closer to the driver side.

Thanks,
Rob

i put mine in the Y pipe for two reasons

1. i wanted it to be before my water/meth injection nozzle

2. i didnt want to throw off the temperature numbers by mounting it in an environment that stays hot to the touch for at least an hour after shutting the car off....ie. the plenum

usmccapo, your problem sounds like its more related to your 02 sensors and injectors than anything, are your 02s cycling at idle? do your fuel trims move around? what hotwire method did you use?

1. I dont plan on running water/meth.... and if I did I could plug it back off and figure out the alternative then.

2. I believe there are Pros to running it in an environment such as the plenum. Apparently at low engine speeds the air heats up to closer to the temp of the plenum anyway and at high speeds the plenum temp doesnt have much if any affect on the temp readings (so i was told). If you look at most production vehicles you will see the IAT is located in a runner closer to the head.

3. The Y pipe seems dangerous to me. Not alot of margin for error and not sure who reliable it can be for leaks or blowing out the sensor. Not alot of meat to keep it secure. It may work for now, but if you bump it wrong it may not anymore... not to mention down the road with some miles. Threading it into something with some meat seems like the way to go to me.

i have had it in my plastic y-pipe for a moth or so now, bumped it several times and it hasnt budged.

on this note, im installing propane injection this weekend, should i put the IAT sensor before this, or does it really matter since propane doesnt cool the air charge?

Ok, let me catch up.

Rob, that looks fine for the IAT.

Generally, you don't want to spray your IAT with alky or propane.

I put my sensor in the Y pipe (plastic). I tapped it gently to ensure I didn't crack it, glued the sensor in with RTV, and put a hose clamp on either side of the sensor. So far, it has not budged...

glue would be a good idea.. lol

also, i never tapped it, i just put a hole in the y-pipe just big enough to start screwing the IAT in, then because the threads get larger, it tapped itself

i havent had any problems, and with any luck the thread for the IAT sensor will be the same as the threading for the propane.

It seems like a pretty good idea to me being that myself and a few others thought for sure it was the maf sensor and the stock maf is like 200$ more than the maft pro.

Rustang, I agree with respect to an o2 maybe being bad. but they are cycling at idle, i do need to set up my PLX 500 so that I can log what i need to log. especially being that i can not get it to a stable 14.7 at anytime, only a steady 14.5 as though that's what the ecm was programed to. I did the, I believe it's Eric Gross hotwire.

do you actually expect to get a perfect steady 14.7?

my cycles from 14.5 - 14.9 and the only time it goes steady is when im at WOT..

speaking of which, what should i set my WOT to with propane? i remember reading 12.5 for propane, but didnt know if that was for injection, or full propane run car, etc.
