For direct timing control refer to this page, about half-way down. Though I suggest we get the car running properly before further complicating things.

Ok, got the car to idle some how ok .... but the idle still jumps around once in a while... like it's nice and steady for a minute then jumps around and then goes back to jumping. Anyway, the car does not seem to be running rich anymore like before, the exhaust smells good ... Got the engine to running temperature so the thermostat opens and had to turn it off because it got late outside and neighbors were getting angry ... didn't even get to drive it ...

So here's what I did, spend about 2 hours trying to connect the maf-t pro to the laptop (getting different cables etc.) by using a female/female serial cable and a male serial to USB adapter (laptop dosen't have serial port)... that didn't work. When I opened to software to update maft pro and tried to connect to the maft pro with the right COM port it said no response ... maybe its because the laptop has vista on it??? So i gave up and put in the settings from wikipedia posted by Ant  (thanks mate) with the key pad. That didn't make the car idle that much better, so took a look at the maft pro harness going to the ECU and the AUX outputs for baro and IAT were not connected ... so I saw the stock mas connector just dinging there by the battery and I though that if they didn't connect any IAT and Baro inputs to the ecu, the stock maf was able to still send the IAT and baro signal to the ECU. Then connected the stock mas and let it sit there just by the filters… started the car. I was happy, the car automatically started to run better, a little too lean (had it on -40% all together for idle ) added some fuel and it was even better. Now it's at -38 main scale and it idles OK. Anyway, still have a lot of electrical work (which I truly HATE) to do on this thing. the people that worked on this car before did some extremely shitty job!!!

xteekayx,
You can try this, it might get it to work:

- Right Click on the executable file and select "Properties".
- click on the "Compatibility" tab and click on "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"
- select "Run this program as an administrator" under "Privilege Level"
- Click "OK" to apply the changes.

i'll try this tonight, thanks ...

btw, i did get to a steady idle finally. The tune response was all messed up and the car was correcting the AFR back and forth thats why it surged at idle. -37.5% for idle on evo8 560's seem to work really nice

Sounds good - what did you wind up for response settings?

Yah I have a baro reading on my TMO logger. I'll hook it up and let you know what it says for regular idle, stay tuned.
