its there so guys can use the boost control output as a window switch.

What criteria causes the stock ecu to go into open loop operation? I'm curious if there is a boost limit that causes open loop mode and if there is a throttle% that causes open loop operation?
it appears to me to be different throttle amounts at different RPM's. But I would bet there is an airflow influence as well.

I.e. at 2000 RPM, it takes a lot of throttle, at 2500 it takes less, and at 3000 RPM less still.

Above 3000 RPM it seems that it is always open loop.

I am working on some ideas to make it boost/load sensitive.....

I have a quick question. I just got around to installing my Maft-Pro. I want to use it for Speed Density, but no fuel correction or anything like that.

I'm on stock injectors, supra pump hotwired w/resistor bypass. Currently I'm at 7 psi and it will stay there until I find me a good EBC. I'm just wanting to run Speed Density so I can get rid of the stock MAF.

I followed the instructions from the 3S quick start/over view. Is there anything else I need to do?

I'm using the universal PnP SD harness, not the one that plugs into the 3S maf. Thanks for the help.

Where do you guys get your USB to female serial adapter from? The only ones I see are for USB to male serial adapter.

Hey guys, I just bought a wideband and hooked it to my maftpro. Im ready to start tuning my TT conversion, however I have absolutely NO tuning experience and unfortunately nobody to show me the ropes. Right now everything seems overwhelming and I definately don't want my tuning inexperience to cost me a motor. Can someone give me some pointers? Iv tried reading up online but theres just soo much information I can't sort the applicable stuff from the non applicalble.

Do I basically keep an eye on my wideband signal throughout my RPM range at different loads and add fuel accordingly? Iv read that the most efficient A/F ratio is 14.7:1, however I get a feeling that I probably want to stay a little on the rich side of that number. Do I want different A/f ratios depending on different loads?? Does anyone know of a good thread or website where I can read and try to teach myself the basics?

Sorry for the stupid post, im just trying to get some help with this.

Try not to look at the W/B while driving because you should be looking at the road. Log A/F, Timing, and Knock, and review the logs after the tuning run. The basic simplified way of tuning would go like this:

  1. Set up the overall correction factor if you are using injectors that are larger than what the ECU is expecting (i.e. if you are using 360cc injectors with the NA ecu you need to set the base conversion)
  2. Do a tuning run, log the run. Abort the run if you knock alert system warns you of excessive knock (if you don't have one you need one)
  3. Look at the logged data. If there is knock or lean spots at a certain RPM/ load add more fuel. Goto step 2 to test and refine the new tune.

For our cars you want to be around 11.2-11.4 A/F on pump for high load situations (like WOT) and 14.7 for idling. Lean cruise is around 16.0 A/F. Of course all this is a very rough summary and you need to pay attention to how your car behaves. Be careful and safe.

edit: Here is an image from stealth316 with what a stock VR-4 fuel map looks like:

I am having an issue using Tuner Pro 4.14.
I'm running XP on my Laptop, and I'm using the serial cable that was provided to connect my laptop to the MAFT-Pro unit.
I am not using a Serial to USB converter.

How do I get my computer to recognize the MAFT-Pro? Are there any drivers that need to be installed first? Please help, I would love to check out the data logging on here.

I read through the first 6 pages on here and it started to become like looking for a needle in a haystack. I also checked on fullthrottletech.com but couldn't find the specifics.

Thanks for the help.

There was an intermediate version of Tunerpro that had a couple issues...

Look in the Help/About box for the version number (build number)

But, generally, there are no drivers.

in the tools/prefs/ALDL box, set the interface for translator pro. Tunerpro will find the port when you click the Auto-Detect button. Make sure you have the correct XDF selected, and the correct ADS file selected.

Thanks, I tried it again and hit auto-detect and it was able to connect to it this time. I had to go in and point it to the 440 ADS file.

Then when I tried to log it said "error trying to write file" or something similar to that.

Did you get the PM I sent you?
