Default Re: ---===The Official MAFT-Pro Thread===---

I'm still a bit confused (what's new).

Does the Baro sensor signal get input into the Maftpro in AFC mode?

Wiring diagram in the manual for AFC mode shows "Connect MAP input to TPS when no MAP sensor is installed"

So do I:

1. tap into the baro sensor signal and bring it into the maftpro MAP input?

or

2. Because the VR4 has a baro sensor instead of a MAP sensor, tie the MAP input to the TPS signal

or

3. Do neither of the above and not bring any MAP/baro sensor signal into the maftpro in AFC mode?

The little diagram above the connections in the manual shows the IAT and Baro sensors completely bypassing the Maftpro in AFC mode. This is why it is confusing that below in the wiring diagram it says to connect the map input to TPS if there is no map (which logically would mean connect the MAP signal to the maftpro if you have one). According to the diagram above, the Maft should need no baro/map input in AFC mode.

Thanks.

For AFC mode:

Tap: power, ground, TPS

Splice: MAF signal.

Every other signal is not changed, tapped, spliced, or altered.

You can connect to the stock O2 sensor if you want to log it, but I would recommend a wideband instead.

The BARO signal and IAT signal need to go to the ECU as they are required for the ECU to calculate airflow.

The connection for the TPS into the MAP input is not required in the later software versions.

This 100% clears that up. Thanks Bob. I also believe RPM (CAS) also has to be tapped in AFC mode, or spliced if you want to do timing control?

Bob, the support and development you give is what hands down makes the MAFTpro the best option for fuel control on our cars.

Thanks again.

For AFC mode running with stock MAF, what does Airfl Source and F-In get set to?

Thanks.

OK, I got all my wiring done and thought that would be the hard part. I loaded v.489 onto the maft and went to put in the settings for AFC mode. Here's my settings along with questions:

Vehicle Select (2) - I am running timing control, is this correct?
#cylinders (6) - self explanitory
Displacement (3.00) - self explanitory
Airfl Mode (10) - got this from previous post, but maftpro says 10 is translator mode, and there is no AFC mode. What should this be???
Map Source (0) - GM 3 bar - I'm running the stock Baro, don't know what to set this to??
Load Source (0) - Use MAP is this correct?
Baro Mode (0) - Sealevel - is this correct?
F-Out (0) - I thought 0 puts the maftpro into AFC mode, but zero states "fuel pump control"???
Vout1 (0) - use setpoint
Vout2 (0) - use setpoint
AFR source (3) - AEM - I've got an AEM wideband
F-In mode (33) - got this from previous post. Is this correct?
Aux1 mode (0) - Aux trigger off
FlowErrMode (0) SD/MAF - this is undocumented- is this the correct mode?

Version 4.8?

F In gets set to 3000GT
F out gets set to 3000GT

Airflow source gets set to translator mode. ("AFC mode" was confusing, so it was incorporated into Translator Mode)

If you don't have a MAP sensor, set load source to TPS or Airflow/RPM.

Map source doesn't matter if you don't have a MAP sensor.
Load source, set to TPS or Airflow/RPM (either will work)
F Out mode. set to 3000GT, "AFC mode" is incorporated into translator mode now.
F In mode set to 3000 GT (the previous data was for a different mode/reason)
FlowErr mode - doesn't matter for your setup.

I think that covers it...... (I need to finish the 4.80 manual.......)
