Seened to locate the source of the changing idle condition to the small plug when it was touched or wiggled. Took the MAFT-Pro apart, examined the solder joints on the board - everything looked solid. Then I found a filiment of wire sticking out of one of the pins in the smaller connector, could have been shorting out on an adjacent pin. Removed the wire, reassembled, plugged it back in, and found the idle will now mess up if I wiggle the larger connector. I bumped the idle limit screw up so the thing will not *usually* die on me, about 0.78 TPS. The idle fluctuates pretty bad for a few minutes, then gets fairly smooth at 1100 RPM. It is so bad when cold that it will drop to 400 and go back up to 1300, over and over. Some times it will start doing it out of the blue, even when warm. Would you suggest soldering the wires directly to the board? Any ideas on what causes the fluctuating idle?

Try unplugging and re-plugging the connectors about 10 times.

My car has bad initial start conditions when I turn it on when it's already warm (if I had driven it within 15-60 minutes prior), but it was like that stock too, so it may just be the way the car is.

Mine too,

I add a little extra afterstart to cover the lean restart. My idle RPM is low on restarts as well, not sure how to fix that...... (perhaps using the fuel pressure solenoid to create a vacuum leak to raise the idle speed.)

Hey Bob,

I have my car tuned and running pretty well except for one thing. If I touch the gas pedal within the first few minutes after starting the car it wants to go extremely rich and die and I can't hardly get it started. I usually have to hold the pedal wide open and crank the car over for a while to get it to start. Once it is warmed up it runs GREAT!
I have the afterstart set at 0 so I know that it is not that. Can you point me in the right direction?

P.S. Joshua (from Colorado with the Porche 944) is helping me with the tuning.

Thanks,
Dean

I've read the first 155 pages of this thread along with many sections there after. Bob says Mitsubishi's like an afterstart between 10 and 15. Give that a try and see if it helps.

Afterstart richens up the car and I am already having a very rich problem (and only when cold).

Thanks,
Dean

Hi, I'm adding my all in one AEM wideband to my maft pro tomorrow. I was curious where everyone grounded their wideband and if it read the same as the the maftpro.

It seems to me that the maftpro and the wideband would have to be grounded in the exact same place, so the voltage reference is the same. If not, they could read different, resulting in the maft pro not reading the correct AFR.

Though I've read alot of the thread, I am still new to tuning the pro, but it seems to me that you may consider either adjusting your low tune rpm's at 800 and 1200 to lean that out, or adjust the temperature input (though I'm still not too clear on that, so leave that for last)

I just put the boost controller on, which I'm pretty excited about, but I am having issues with my boost (as I've read a few other people have had). Here's my settings.

TPS Spool: 1.26
RPM Spool: 2500 ish
TPS Start: 3.88
PSI Start: 10
DC% Start: 57.2
PSI Set: 14
PSI Aux: 0
Gain: 17.2

Here's my issue. It started out not getting past 10 pounds, when I had dc% at 22ish and gain at 15. I started turning up the DC% start cause I read to turn it up until boost hits what I want. Now it gets to 14, but drops to 7 and holds. I raised my gain to 17.2 with little effect. I don't know that moving my gain or DC% start any higher is really what I want. Do any other numbers jump out as being wrong? If not what should I do to adjust?
