Bob - There's a blue and green "chip" in that bag inside the ECU...what does each of those do?
I threw a stock ECU in the car today and it seemed to run OK. Idle surged some after I revved it however nothing to really be worried about in my opinion. I put the green chip in my overclocked ECU and it too seemed to run ok still. Put everything back together and it wouldn't idle at all again. After seeing that I'm thinking it might actually be a wiring issue. I've been over the wiring multiple times and everything seems fine so I guess the next step is re-wiring it. What are the wires I should focus on first? Terry |

I would stick with the spare ECU for now and tune for that. Get things stable before you overclock again. almost all the connections can cause wierdness..... grounds and the MAP and TPS are good places to start, and the MAF out (green wire on the 10 pin) Bob

Probably won't have a chance till this weekend but I'll start with those wires and re-do everything. Right now the stock chip is in the ECU so that should be fine or should I swap the spare ECU in?

I just installed the GM Boost solenoid and have my Maft Pro acting as a boost controller. I want to run 10 PSI, can someone please help me set this thing up? Here are my current settings:
TPS Spool: 1.34 RPM Spool: 2500 TPS Start: 4.0 PSI Start: 8PSI DC% Start: 20% PSI Set: 10PSI Gain: 4.0 Max RPM: 7000 I am still having a hard time getting past 7 PSI, the only way I can manage 10PSI is if I downshift in 2nd, it will spike to 10PSI for an instant and fall back down. Also Im BRAND new to tuning, I had someone give my car a ROUGH tune when i first got the maft pro, however yesterday i did a vac reduction and now its running like crap. I think it is RICH, I only have a boost gauge and EGT, can someone give me a quick and ugly tutorial on how to tune? Iv read the user manual and had too many questions to figure it out on my own, also I still have a big fear of tuning as I dont want it to cost me a motor. What is a good safe EGT that I should try to maintain??? Thanks -Mike Last edited by BillyBADASS09 : 05-14-2007 at 03:01 PM. |

fix that before you mess with the boost controller. But, be sure the solenoid is not installed backwards. Turn the start DC% up a few % at a time until the boost hits where you want it. B |

Actually I found out why its running badly, Im embarrassed to admit I accidentally left the IAT sensor unplugged without realizing, took me a second to catch it, but I got it.
I have the standard GM boost solenoid, I have the silver nipple thats by itself on one end going to boost, and the nipple that is on the same side as the vent with the foam filter on it going to the wastegate. I followed instructions I found here http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=870619 since I didn't have any instructions with my boost solenoid. I do hear a loud whoosh of air at partial throttle even at low boost levels that I DIDN'T hear prior to installing the solenoid. Is this normal? |

start tuning the controller then. Turn the DC% up until the boost goes to your desired boost. Reduce Start PSI if the boost spikes too much. INcrease the gain to 15 or so if the boost doesn't maintain ok.

I'm having trouble getting my idle to lean out. The car likes to just sit at a pig rich 13.2-13.4 at idle. I try maxing out the correction and it has no effect whatsoever. What's the deal here? The car runs pretty well but I can't get it to lean out any at idle, the idle tracking does not seem to do anything, it's hooked up to an AEM WB, narrowbands have been disconnected and the car has about 400 miles on it like that so I don't think the ECU is trying to mess with things too much.
