hey bob im trying to get my part throttle tracking to work, and im having a hell of a time do it. I think its because my AEM wideband reads differnt on the pro than it does on the gauge its self. I double checked the wideband selection and i picked 5v AEM and the pro reads a good 1.0 or more off at a time. for example the pro will read like 15.8-16.0 while the gauge reads 14.8-15.0. i think thats why i cant get the tune to work cuz my readings are off from the gauge and the pro. How can i fix this? thanks

Where did you tap in the AEM's outputs? If it's not close to the Pro unit it will read a little off.

i did it under the dash near the ecu, with all the other connections but its a good two points off. like idle is set to 15.0:1 and my wideband reads 13.0:1 when the pro reads 15.0:1. so its a big difference.

Does any one use the AEM standalone wideband gauge with the MAFT-PRO, cuz i am and my readings are off. The pro reads from 10.0:1-20.0:1, where my gauge reads 10.0:1-18.0:1. So this issue is messing up my tuning, so does anyone know how to fix this issue so i can get everything working properly. thanks

More issues with this thing...or should I say the same old issue but I can just pin point it now with a better wideband.

Running the maft-pro on an NA with speed density. I have the overclocked ECU which leans the A/F out but a walbro which bumps up the base FP a few PSI so to a point they sorta even everything out.

So now with the AEM wideband i can see where by idle FP actually is. I started up the car and adjusted the mainscale to compensate for the ecu/pump combo to get around 14.7 (jumped a few tenths on either side of it). Thought I was good till I revved my car up and the A/F ratio jumped up to around 16. Revved the car again and it was at 12. Again, now at 14. Everytime I revved the car it seemed to settle at a different area.

No idea why it would do that unless it's the ECU. I didn't get a chance to swap in a stock ecu yet however I'm not sure how that would cause it. I am running version 4.65 but I don't see any reason that should cause an issue like that. I will be upgrading firmware along with the new ECU tomorrow.

Bob, hope you can jump in here since you obliviously are the one with experience on both these systems.

To be honest I'm on the last straw with this thing. If I can't get this figured out it might be time to go with the emanage.

Terry

PS. My AEM does read different than my maft pro. Must be another problem with these.

exactly which AEM do you have? Model number, link to the manual?

It sounds like your ECU is changing idle fuel modes. They do that when they don't trust the MAF (like if the tune is off, or you are tuning for really large injectors). try unplugging the O2 sensor(s) and tuning for 14:1 at idle and light throttle.

Before you might also try it in AFC/Translator mode, as its easier to tune.

Complete noob here. Read through what I can understand in this 'uber' long thread! I am right at the point of buying all the bits needed to get up and running.

Current Setup:
2 x TD05 16G's
stock ecu

I'm aiming for circa 550-600hp.
The engine is going in a custom car.

Are these assumptions/questions correct:

1) Need to buy a 5-wire Wideband O2 sensor

2) Need 620cc injectors

3) Stock MAF goes in the bin, and the 3bar MAP sensor is used along with an AT sensor, for speed-density mode.

4) Once set-up, I can control the boost via the MAFTPRO lcd controller on the dash? no need to remap or anything, the speed-density setup will automatically do its job?

5) Can I have 2 boost settings on the lcd controller and simply change between them whilst driving?

Engine Tech:

a) Do I need to change the fuel rails?

b) What type of injectors can I use? can I use EVO injectors? Subaru injectors?

c) Do I need a fuel-pressure regulator? Which one will do the job?

d) The fuel tank I have requires an external pump, which one for my HP requirements will run straight off the ECU?

Basically a total noob, and got the cheque book ready to order the parts, but dont want to make mistakes, got a show to appear in not too far away, so wanna have her up and running in time.

Thanks all!

e) Oh, and what spark-plugs are recommended for my bhp requirements?

f) The stock coil-packs should be fine for the job as I understand it?

Basically, If anyone can list all the parts I need to order for the mech to put together to get the engine running at 550-600hp with the 16Gs, that will be awesome! Headers, intercoolers and radiator are already sized accordingly and ordered in.

The standalone wideband kit. AEM Part Number 30-4100. There is an adjustment for outputs but they're all completely different from the normal linear 0-5v output. That is unless the maft-pro reads different on that gauge for some reason.

Well I don't have a MAF so it's going to be hard to go back to AFC mode. You think just unplugging my narrowband would be ok? Even without partial throttle turned on it'll adjust for that? Don't think it could be my overclocked ECU?

Thanks for the help Bob.

Terry

post the scaling options or a link to the manual

running without the O2 sensor is much smoother than with....

The part throttle tracking in the Pro makes it really nice.

I'm with the noob who posted a little above me about the 550 to 600 hp. What's needed for speed density? Right now I have an ARC2 and I feel like it's broken, so i'm going to try this instead.
