We've had some nice weather here so I've been able to drive the car around a little. I updated to 4.80 and tuned a little and my maft-pro related problems are pretty much gone. It idles solid and smooth at 800 RPMs which is a dramatic improvement over a rough idle at 1100 RPMs. It doesn't go into decel mode nearly as easily as it used to. I expected it to be much worse with 720cc injectors. It accelerates smoother, takes off from a stop easier, and doesn't try to stall when I step on the gas. It's as close to stock drivablity as possible with 720ccs and a spec 3+ clutch. I can't wait to get into timing control this summer.
I'm happy. ![]()

jwetzler asked me via PM what he needed and it seems Kibwe Walker would like to know, too. So I just coppied my PM response over so everyone could see.

Okay, I'm not the expert here but I'll tell you what I know. I've never had the boomslang harness, but I don't see why that wouldn't work. It sounds like you intend to solder, but I'll say it anyways, you have to solder. What you'll need to run speed density is the MAFT- Pro unit, a GM 3 bar MAP sensor, an GM Air Temp Sensor , and a Speed Density Harness for 2g/3s W/Pro. You may be able to use the Gen 2 translator unit, but I don't know anything about that, so you'd have to ask someone else. I'm pretty sure the whole 1g/2g thing is refering to DSMs. If you look at the pics of the harness, the 1g one doesn't match the 3s MAF plug. So you'll need the 2g/3s harness. All the install info should be on the first post of the maft-pro thread. Sorry no one responded, I guess everyone's a little busy. Anytime, Andrew |

I have the boomslang. It's the greatest invention ever in my mind. Boomslang also should have the info they need to make you a plug and play harness so you don't have to do any soldering, it's all pre-built.
The gen-II unit does NOT do speed density, but it does the MAF conversion (LS!/LS6, ect). If you intend to stay with a MAF the Gen-II is cheaper and has same functionality as the Pro....only you can't convert to speed density later on.

GSXRKID who runs evil empire performance in the UK does a plug and play harness that you basicly plug into the ecu and plug the ecu cables into it, and thats it, the only extras are connecting your wideband to the remaining two cables.
under the bonnet/hood you plug the map sensor and temp sensor into the MAF connector, this has already been intersected in the plug and play harness to route the temp sensor and MAP sensor to the maftpro connector. only thing in addition is adding a cable for the boost controller. this is how mines wired up in response to silver bulits post, its sensible to do anything you can to open up the input to the turbos and open up the exit from the turbos. without any additional boost the 3000GT will perform much better with for example bigger maf and precat eliminators plus e2k downpipe and sports main cat and dn manifolds. this is the way i did it so ive seen the improvements in performance and drivability you get doing it this way round. (ive still got the old maf and K&N panal filter in place) What i would say though is the improved throughput can cause the turbos to work much better increasing the boost/ airflow, and you can find that the standard 3000GT boost control is woefully inadequate in controlling a car modded this way. since you therefore need a boost controller and a maf converter/eliminator why not go the whole hog and get the maftpro in speed density mod instead. regards peter Last edited by ukspec : 01-04-2007 at 02:13 PM. |

hey bob after i installed the 4.80 update, the car drove amazing for 2days and now the car threw a check engine light and its a code 13 air intake temop sensor and the car runs awful. the car will barly idle and while cruising the a/f jumps around and runs rich.
any ideas on y it threw the cel? |

Well, the air temp signal to the ECU is a voltage output from the Pro (V Out 1)
Since the V out is "setpoint mode" meaning that it puts out the same voltage all the time, it should be easy to check. What does your logger show for air temp.... does changing the V out 1 setting (settings page) change it? Check for connection issues with your installation, and at the harness plugs to the Pro. Unplug and re-plug the Pro harnesses a few times to seat the pins. Bob |

91 Stealth TT

I have a 91 Stealth TT and just got the MAFT-Pro. I am going to be running this in Speed Density Mode. I am using the Speed Density Plug and Play Harness. If I understand correctly, the PnP harness lets me plug the readings from the IAT & MAP directly to the MAFT-Pro.
Eliminating the need to use the factory MAF Wiring for SD right? I need some clarification on how to wire the 10 pin connector to my ECU wiring harness. I don't currently have a Wideband, so is it fine if I just leave the wires for that unhooked? Where does the MAF Sig Input come from? And do I even need to worry about that since I am using the Speed Density Plug and play harness? I looked at the Wiring Diagram on the first page, but wasn't sure what these two wires correspond to: White Wire=??? Grey Wire =??? Here are the color wires that I have on the 10 PIN Connector, if there are any errors please correct me. Black=Ground/ pin 26 Yellow=MAF Sig Input White=? Grey=? Brown=Air Temp Output/ pin 52 Orange=Wide Band Input Purple=Wide Band Ground Blue=TPS/ pin 65 Dark Green=MAF Sig Output/ pin 70 Pink=+12V/ pin 25 Thanks for all of the help, I really appreciate it. Hopefully I'll have this thing up and running soon. ![]()
