I just went out to my car and hooked up power, ground, TPS, wideband, and RPM.

I can't get an RPM signal and I tried both pinouts from the 94 - 95 and the 96 -97 ECUs. I have a 1995 hybrid in my 1996 so I'm not sure what's going on.

Also, I must not be reading these numbers right because my TPS and afr ratio's don't make sense.

One step at a time, give us the wire connections you made.

What is your TPS reading (make sure you are set to the Sensor Monitor page and not the Response page)

What is your AFR reading?

Bob

I just hooked up the wires mentioned above. These are all at idle.

MP 0-1
DC 129.5
VE 44.0
FO 169
TPS .99
MT -39.2
02 3.2
FE 100
ASC 100
AFR 16.8
CF 100.0
TAF 12.5

After going through the setup, i managed to correct the AFR, nothing else changed much.

edit- everything I didn't list was at zero

exactly

the wire in the RPM pinout though was not blue with a white tracer like it is supposed to be. It was blue with a pink tracer.

MP, you have no MAP sensor connected
DC,MT, you have no IAT (temperature) sensor connected
VE, as expected with no MAP sensor
FO, with No RPM, this value does not update.

TPS, this is volts and is probably right. Can you check a logger or verify with a voltmeter.

O2, this is the input voltage on the O2/Wideband wiring. Since you have a wideband, its probably fine.

The rest sounds fine. Where did you connect the RPM input? Make sure the blade of the pink connector didn't miss the slot of the tap connector.

Bob

EDIT: looked in my manual stuff, 1996 car, CKP signal (not the power transistor feedback signal....)
Blue-white wire at pin 89, use this for the RPM input.

(pin 58 is the tailight relay input.....)

I have a tap in pin 51 and 58. Niether give me RPMs.

I know I don't have any of the other stuff hooked up. I just wanted to see this thing read RPM, TPS, and AFR tonight, then tommorow I'd install the rest to convert it. All I want out of this thing tonight is an RPM signal.

yes, I have both yours and rustang cobras diagrams.

It seems your RPM pinout (89) and his (58,51) don't match.

I've already isolated pin 89 and I am ready to tap, should I tap into pin 89?
