I dunno.. I thought the install was rediculously easy.. I can't see paying $130 for a harness.. thats crazy. Unplug the harnesses from the ECU and flop them over to the passengers side. Now you have like 12" of cable all sitting there and it's no big deal to pick apart the right ones. Solder your connections about 6" above the yellow molex, not 2cm's above. A little shrink tubing after that and done! Easy! Took me 20 mins if that.. Bob..regarding boost control.. The DC% start did it.. now it's working like it should. That is the one setting along with the base boost that I'm not really clear on how and why it works. Why should we have to adjust that? I mean, shouldn't a target PSI setting be all that is required and the box figures out the optimum DC% and base PSI? What would be the advantage to playing with these values?

There are several settings in order to allow tuning for best spool and control. If we don't mind giving up some response, then it can be simplified..... Give me some data and I will look into it. How much DC% give how much boost.... and you min boost (wastegate) psi..... Bob

At the moment I'm at 6psi base, 52% DC start, 12 psi target to be on the safe side until I get everything right.
Seems to be boosting just right.. In fact, I do believe that it is better than with my TXS MBC. Spool is wicked quick. But, I have a nasty plenum leak that needs to be fixed via a new lower plenum arriving next week.. I'm nervous to make any claims as to proper settings until then ![]() From what I am gathering though, setting the base PSI too high just results in a boost spike, right? Again with the DC%.. too high and its mainly just an overboost.. right? I'm thinking that the only way a boost spike would be advantageous is if you tuned for it somehow.. still though.. What would be the give and take of setting the base PSI and DC% too high or too low? |

I am creating a WIKIPEDIA entry on MAFT-Pro installation, because this thread is getting so huge it is hard to read.
My WIKI entry is still a little rough but anyone can edit it to contribute. http://www.3si.org/wiki/index.php/MA...o_Installation I do have one question about using it as an AFC, are the follwing settings correct for AFC use? AIRFLOW SOURCE: 10 AFC or translator F-OUT MODE: 0=AFC mode F-IN MODE: 33 = 2G DSM, 3000GT/Stealth (OFF)

Good start, but I don't know if I would recommend using the crimp terminals to anyone.. When messing with critical A/F connections I wouldn't even turn the car on if it wasn't soldered. Also, I found that its alot cleaner to flop the ECU plugs over to the passengers side footwell in order to have more room and wire to work with. Solder in the connections with a good 8" of lead after the plugs as not to chop up the wire too close to the molex's in case you need to put it back to stock afterwards. imho |
