bob's explination is better. go figure, lol.

hey bob, how's the response thing going? Does it look fixable? Not that I'm in a hurry sicne I stopped tuning because I can't boost past 12 psi without getting "spark blowout" studder, even though plugs and wires are new and gapped right and all. I'm thinking after I replace the fuel pump I'm going to look into coils and such, 120K sounds like a good time to replace those.

I will be making a final release of version 4.80 next week with updated manuals, Tunerpro files, etc...... I'm doing final testing on the response stuff this weekend. Then some final loose ends.

Yea, I know. I am going to adjust TMBase to TMO log, then using TMO log, get TMCorrect to the correct setting, then adjust TMBase using a timing light.

If that makes sense.

Bob

the plot thickens.. I love it

OK.. I just got the boost control swapped for my MBC. Having some problems with it:

The boost is coming on way too late. It will peak quick if I play with it, but come back to 7psi and hold until like 5k when it finally opens up to my set target psi.

Anyone have any quick settings thats working to hit about 12psi as quick as possible?

(Sorry.. car is a long way away to run and get the settings.. I can get them if need be)

Boost Control settings:

TPS spool - 2.0
RPM spool - 2400
TPS start - 3.9
PSI start - 10.0
DC% - 22
PSI set - 12.0
Gain - 4.0
Max RPM - 0

Aux stuff is zero'd out

I know the PSI start is what makes it spike.. I have it up that high so that I can get some kind of boost out of it at all. Like I was saying.. it spools normal up to about 6-7psi, and then won't go past there.. then all of a sudden at about 5k or so it starts opening up.

Just to keep it simple, if it works anything like the simple EBCs out there, you only need PSI set and Gain, rest is fine tune. Gain is how quickly it ramps up, set is pressure it tries to stay. Raise your gain and 0 everything out and see where you lie. I haven't used it so I might be wrong.

Hey, quick question... I've run into some funding issues with my planned engine rebuild, and I'm going to have to go more slowly on some things... I want to get all of the in engine stuff out of the way, but I'm considering holding off on all the gauges needed for tuning, if i can still use the larger injectors safely. For the injectors, i at least need a MAFT-Pro, but my question is: If i just get a maft pro, and dial in my injector size, does that work well enough if I keep boost at stock levels? I understand that if I really want to put power down with more boost, i need a proper tune, but does the Maft-Pro work well enough to let a stock car at stock boost run the same with larger injectors as it would with stock airflow metering and stock injectors?
This new engine will be my baby, so if that's not ok, just let me know. Concievably, if a device really did exactly compensate for increased injector size, things should be just as safe as stock (at stock boost), but if there's more to it than that, I don't want to half-ass this.
Thanks for your input.
