Yes. I would do it right the first time and just go speed density with a T-Pro.. really not that much more and in the long run MUCH better.. ![]()

welll i got it all doen today, still gotta work on PT tracking, but WOT tracking and timing control is working great. im pulling 2* from 5k to redline, but i still need to fine tune that as well.

i just realized i dont need to pull timing anywhere other than were my knock starts. so i will retune tomorrow and only pull timing in the 5000-5500rpm range. |

DAMN.. you are only pulling 2*'s and you are running 15psi?!!? What is your logger showing as uncorrected timing? What is your base timing?
I'm jealous as hell.. I'm pulling 5*'s and I'm only at 13psi on my 357's.. wtf is that.. I'm wondering what 3SX set my base timing to.. I need to check it.. Maybe those DSM SMIC's are working better than you thought..! I'm thinking that such a low (36psi) base FP on those 580's are keeping your IDC's a little elevated maybe enough to run like that.. |

I'm running 17psi with zero timming pulled, but that was on 450s at 50psi base pressure (~500cc), now that I have 550s I haven't retuned, so we will see. BTW what are your 357s comparable to? 15gish class turbo?

Yeah.. pretty much a 15G with a GTP price tag on 'em.. They came with the car.. I would have gone TD05 for as much as these stupid things cost new! GTP 357 specs: Compressor wheel - T3 "50" Trim Comp Ind dia - 1.674 Comp Exd dia - 2.367 Trim - 50 Comp Housing - TD04-13G bored Turbine wheel - TE04H Turbine Exd dia - 1.88 Turbin Ind dia - 2.01 Turbine Housing - TD04-6cm2 TD04-15G: 15G 1.625 2.187 55 TD04-13G bored TD04L 1.62 1.86 TD04L-6cm2 TD04H-15G: 15G 1.625 2.187 55 TD04H-15G TD04H 1.735 2.042 TD04H-6cm2 So I guess no matter what I have physically bigger wheels on all 4, but I'm assuming that the higher the trim #, the greater the pitch? Is that correct? Greater the pitch = greater velocity of air.. and in that respect I'm lower than a 15G.. which would cause heat to build up like TD04's are known to do.. which would cause knock. As well as my exhaust turbine housing not being as large.. Again, a heat restrictor. Am I right in thinking this? Last edited by junglesmacks : 09-02-2006 at 08:14 AM. |

the higher trim means a larger inducer diameter.
50 trim = .50 = the square of the ratio of the diameters of the wheel. (1.674/2.367)^2 = .5 Bob
