Default New EMS, just tuned, very dissapointed

I just had an EMS installed and tuned. I was told it was a full tune, but I am hessitant to believe/accept that.

When I am not in gear, if I blip the throttle 30% or so, there is literally a second delay before the rpm's jump. This is particularly bad because that means that when the throttle is opened, there's not additional fuel, and when the throttle is back to idle, all the fuel is shot in at once.

I'm worried about the effects such a laggy system can have on my engine. Is this normal or is it not fully tuned for general driving?

Who tuned it? A reputable shop? Have you talked to them about the issue?

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. That'll definitely make things smoother, will it also help the delay?

Also check timing advance in lower rpm regions and the overall fueling maps, those could be off as well.

Yeah, the shop is "working" with me. Barely. Is there a good way I could learn how to tune the EMS? Is the manual (the 2xx page one) worthwhile? How would you learn it?

The aem manual does a good job of explaining what table does what, under most circumstances.

As far as tuning, there are a few good resources on this forum and the internet in general. Tuning in itself is a mix of an exact science and art.
