Default HHH datalogger cable, OBDII VR4, and vista 64

I just got my HHH datalogger cable for the OBDII setups and I installed the software included with the cable on my Vista 64 bit machine. Software installed no problems, the cable drivers were a bitch to find, I had to download a vista 64 bit driver off of FTDI and bypass the vista drivers that it installed. I have a few questions: on an OBDII/hybrid ECU car, where is the OBDII connector? to the left of the center console? I plugged into that, and when I hook up the data cable, turn the key to on and fire up the software, the software doesn't pick up the ECU. Is there anything special that needs to be tweaked in the software to pick up the ECU?

in the software you need to tell it what com port it should attempt to connect to, if you go into device manager and look down the list for ports, then look at the device that is the HHH cable, it should have a port number on it (mine is usually com3)...in the software you simply put this in and it should solve the last of your issues.

nice one on finding the drivers, I had the same pain.

I simply hate this cable, it doesn't work, I tried it in my F150 which is OBDII to eliminate the possibility of it being my diag port on my ECU in the VR4 and I ruled out the cable. The software is configured properly, I have tried every single baud rate I could on the com port, I have tried every single configuration I could think of, even picked up EvoScan and it didn't work. I am going to be talking to HHH for a refund since the cable is obviously flawed or it's the wrong one they sent me. The drivers did fix some of the issues I was having but overall, the cable doesn't work. Plus I could really use the money right now and the VR4 is still running, just wanted to figure out what my check engine light is from, really aside from that, it was just for preventative measures and a diagnostic tool that I thought would work out great.
