emanage ultimate software help - 3000GT/Stealth International Message Center

ok, so i'm trying to get the emanage ultimate software on my laptop to talk to the emanage unit itself. i connect it all together, and a box comes up that says "ONLINE, communicate with e-manage in real time?" "OK" or "Cancel" if you click ok or cancel, the box will disappear, but the exact same box will reappear in 3 seconds or less. if you don't click either, the box will dissappear and immediately reappear every 3 seconds or so. i can't do anything with the software, because the box never goes away, and you can't click on anything while the box is there. anyone have any clues as to what the hell is going on and how to fix it?

i was able to somehow pull the tuned files from the emanage unit some weeks ago, and again today, but it's like it did that on it's own right before the box appeared for the first time. other than that, i can't do anything with the program.

oh, also it was v2.14, i updated it to 2.16 and it does the same thing.

Sounds like either a hardware issue or a cable issue.

Verrify the USB cable is good, then try another laptop. If neither of those things fix it, it sounds like it could be a bad EMU unit.

I have NEVER seen the EMU software do that.

i don't have another laptop around to try out unfortunately. i've thought about uninstalling then reinstalling the software though. may give that a shot later. it's a brand new usb cable, but if nothing else seems to work i could replace it. i don't think i have an extra one laying around so i'd need to buy one.

would having the emu box and the software on two different versions cause this? i honestly don't know what firmware the box is on right now.

i really hope it's not a bad unit. i mean the car runs fine, and it did pull the maps off the unit.

Ummmmmm yeah get the latest versions of software/firmware and see if that does anything.

Sounds like it's stuck in a recursive loop, or there's a glitch that hitting cancel doesn't truly cancel it out. As long as the software is compatible with the firmware version you have, there should be no problems with a different in version numbers, especially a minor revision like 2.14 to 2.16.

Reinstall would be my first thought.

I've seen this same problem happen before when the software versions are mixed. ie, the firmware is newer, but you're trying to use old software. If in doubt, run the latest version.

yeah, that's what i'm thinking too, but i just don't know how to fix it.

what is the newest version of software/firmware? the laptop is currently 2.16 which i thought was the newest.

oh, and while i'm at it, anyone got a good .pdf version of the manual for this thing? cause i didn't get squat.

well i figured it out. i misread the version i was originally running before i updated. it was actually 1.07, which is what came on the cd. i ran the update for 2.16. and apparantly, the update doesn't work unless you already have 2.13 installed. i did not know that, so even after i "updated" to 2.16, it was still 1.07. so mohdparts.com to the rescue, downloaded 2.13. installed it, after some trial and error, and it works fine now (firmware is 2.13, always was apparantly).

so new question, any reason to update to 2.16? or should i just leave it all alone now that it's working right?

Now would be a good time to upgrade to v2.16.

If you want to take advantage of Gray Haze's speed density map, it's at version 2.16.
