I'm looking into the purchase of a datalogger for my 99 vr4 for CELs and knock... not really worried about performance changes, as i'm running stock on everything, just wondering what the best datalog software was out there, what I should avoid and all that. From my searching, I guess i'm looking for an OBD2 which limits my options, but I think it is good to get all this information out there, and the 94-95 hybrids... good stuff to add to the wiki.
I did a search and didn't really see a thread were people critiqued the usefulness of any of the dataloggers. Maybe if this thread gets busy we can intigrate the information into the wiki since there is no information on dataloggers there either.

It really depends on what you want to log and how deep you want to take it.
Basic logging already starts with an Apexi fuel or boost controller and a knock light in your case. To go a bit beyond basic you could use the Scanmaster. If you would want to go extreme, like the car i race. You could buy an E-Manage Ultimate, connect a laptop during driving and save every parameter to the hard drive just to analyze where youre losing power or get on the throttle to late. If it's "just" a daily driver id go with the scanmaster! |

First off with OBD II you can't scan/log knock, but there are a lot of tools you can use to log and scan OBD II vehicles. I'm not familiar with any but I'm sure you could find some with a google search.
A scanmaster is more of a monitoring tool that's always there that you can hook a Palm pilot/laptop up to to log if you want. Or you can just get a Palm/laptop and log or monitor on that.
