Default Anyone using Megasquirt?

I have been looking around for different options to a piggy back setup and stanalone setups. I tried search to see if anyone is using megasquirt but I only came up with a few and it seems that no one has set it up yet on a 3/s. Anyone have any comment on the megasquirt setup? I'm thinking I may buy one and see how it works out. I see that it is only 12x12 and what the emanage blue is what 16x16 fuel and ignition tables...

Setting it for fuel only with total control of the injectors wouldn`t be too difficult, the problem comes with de-coding the crank and cam triggers to allow full ignition control.

Someone has retrofitted a 60-2 wheel from a Ford Edis setup to feed crank position to the MS I`m sure, but de-coding the stock sensors is a bit of a job and a fair bit of coding.

I run MS1 with my own custom Extra code on the Golf and it works great, chose an E-manage Blue for the GTO because it was going cheap but it is deffinitely limited compared to the MS.

I would say your best bet would be to go the 60-2 Trigger Wheel route if you`re going for an MS setup, unless someone`s managed to write a custom firmware for it?. A custom wheel for our CAS would do the job so you could keep it virtually stock.

Ya I was looking around their forums and There was one person that had it working on a 92 tt engine and then one that had it setup for a early 90's sohc n/a engine. I ordered a kit with a few addons and I'm gunna see how it is. I work all day long in working IT and most of my daily work is with electronics from reverse eng. to firgure fixes to everything else. I have 2 reback ovens a quite a few hot air and soldering stations and even 3 BGA Full rework stations (50+ grand each). It should only take me a few hours to put it together and I ordered the touch screen addon and the relay addon. We have a few people working for our company that are good with c++ and assembly so I want to screw around with a setup and see how it works out. It surely looks like a hell of alot cheaper option then AEM but then I have my father in law yelling at me the I get what I pay for so we will see. It seems like this has been around for a while so I am suprised that this hasen't been done a few times.

i thought about using it but the initial setup isnt plug and play, and you have to setup everything. like the timing dwell, etc. aem plug and go. just tune it. that is why i bucked up and spent the money. im also doing group on aem standalone, just some fyi. (no coding is the next best thing)

Well that is an option and one that seems very resonable. It is a good brand, proven and works great but the price is kinda high but you do get what you pay for. The MS does seems like a nice product with a shitload of options though and as long as some one comes up with a base map for our engines it should be just as easy as the aem and emanage. It just someone needs to do the leg work to get the base maps and coding and everything else. I'm gunna give it a shot to try it out and see where it takes me. I would love to see anoughter ems that works well for the 3/s's. My kit should be in early to mid next week so i'll find out.

Good luck with it, have you gone for an MS1 or MS2?/. MS1 coding is in assembly language, asm. It`s not hard to get your head round but the crank based timing routines for the ignition are the sticking point.

I`m sure many people would try MS if it has a few provem installs.

Initial setting up isn`t that bad to do at all, just have a good read though the Mega Manual first and it`s all clear.

Only other option would be to produce a signal processor that would decode the 3s Crank/CAS signals into usable form for the MS, then you could use any firmware currently available for it without alteration.

lol, ya but i'm actually gunna try it. The gear should be in this week. Went with the newest megasquirt 2 with rev3 firmware. I wounder what the ms2 coding is coded in. I wounder how hard it would be to make a custom firmware package. I wounder what ic they are using for the firmware?? I have a few dataman and superpro flash stations so if I screw something up I can just reflash it.
