I think I found my idle problem -- not enough fuel. I believe my map was mistakenly configured for 720cc injectors or thereabouts. I came to this conclusion after multiplying the MicroBits/sec * entry of a given cell and comparing this total value to other total values at similar rpm/load scale on other people's .cal files.
Could you guys please post your latest AEM .cal file and mod list please. Thanks. |

One thing I've noticed is that it doesn't seem to be necessarily the case that microsec/bit is stored/transferred from a map in one car to another car when installing someone else's map.
It is always best to note msec/bit on the donor car and specifically set it on the target car when sharing maps. It'd be particularly useful if we started to put the msec/bit value in the comments area of the map when saved.

My car finally runs! I bumped my MicroBit/sec from 40 to 55. I don't know if this is the best strategy, but it works at the moment.
I'm still interested in any .cal files that you guys are using. In particular, I'm curious to see other .cal files made by Pengulns2001. Thanks! |

You'll need a 9-pin serial interface that is NOT one of those cheap USB converter boxes. Either a 9-pin right on the notebook, or a PCMCIA serial port card. Lots of people have had problems with the USB adapters.
I'd put the 720's in at the same time you put the AEM in. No sense in going through all the tuning twice. Hope you have an upgraded fuel pump to go along with it... The stock pump isn't going to get you there. |

Temporarily tried out MicroBit/sec at 60 and my idle wouldn't come down from 2000 rpms. Reset it back to 55, and the idle came back down to 1000 rpms. I'll stick with 55 for now.
AEM EMS has the ability to automatically make adjustments to your fuel map. I've set up the O2 FB Target MAP (table) with my desired AFR. O2 FB Control is checked on. So the question now becomes, does the AEM EMS actually modify the values stored in the fuel map, or does it apply a fuel trim of some sort? |
