I think i am going to pick one up. It just seems like soooo much better of a deal than buying piggy backs and runnin a million wires everywhere for it when you can wire just one thing rather than a sortment of them.
Where can i get maps for a 91? Jim

i can send you a map for your car if you list your mods, sensors etc, and help you get started theres a few other guys around that im sure will help you out too, you really dont have to wire much as it plugs right in, i do reccomend going MAP with it, and you NEED a wide-band

technically all you "need" is a laptop but if your going to pony up the money for the AEM system i recomend buying
a wide band sensor... i chose the aem dual channel but its really up to you and what you want to spend a MAP sensor compatable with the aem (either gm 3-bar or aem 3.5 bar) an AIT sensor (gm) if you want to do EBC you will need to buy the GM boost control solonoid anything else you wan to control electronically you could purchase and run through the AEM as well expect to spend around 2000 for a good set-up |

That's the start of a 3S AEM FAQ that I worked on a bit in December. I've just about got my car back on the road after a tranny failure, so I will be tuning on the AEM again hopefully within the next month. I've tuned several 3S cars with the AEM and have had good success with all of them. Moreso on my own, since I've spent more time with it. In the FAQ there's info on how to set up a quick boost compensation map from the basemaps that AEM provides. There are some newer tricks than what's in the FAQ, but my car is essentially tuned with exactly what's in the FAQ and it runs great. I don't think there's anything that should hold a serious tuner back from getting an AEM at this point. The growing pains seem to be over and the software is very stable now. There is a pretty good group of 3/S people on the AEM Forums that answer questions (myself included).

Ive thought it over enough, and have concluded that this is the route I will go when the time (and funds) come. The potential of the aem is just too appealing, I'm sure once I get it and play with it enough I will get the hang of it.

well, im going to do some major mods after summer vacations ( including td05 or 19t's) and i was going to use the Aem ecu right away. I dont wanna spend money on piggy backs and also i want it proffesional. Somehow i dont trust those piggy backs. Anyways im going to buy it with wide band and other stuff and try to install it :P, but i bet there will be tons of questions, so thread like that would be very helpful to read ahead how to do stuff.
oh yeah btw you can control NOS with that thing too, and thats what im going to take advantage of :PP |

Do you use a boost comp map? It seems like it might be the best way to tune. I was poking around the AEM forum reading. |
