With the Alky before the IAT you will "sence" the temp drop the other way around you will not. I was going to put my alky down by the outlet of my FMIC for better atomization so I would not have to worry about the IAT.... however then you vent alky mist through the BOV into the engine bay.
The snow kit recomends put it near the throttle body. I think I'm going to mount the IAT a 3-4 inchs before the Water/ Meth nozzle.

IAT----3-4"-----Water/Meth----2-3"--Throttle body

I still do not have AEM installed but have been analyzing a couple calibrations i found on AEM forum. I put the major parameters in excel spreadsheet.
Anybody care to take a look and explain the differences.

I'll answer for the differences that I specifically know about (ie: Maps that are "mine"):

The "1311-MattStartupv1_680cc_2gencar_V1.11.cal" is my initial startup map, which is essentially an AEM basemap which has been adjusted for MAP/IAT speed-density operation, and uses a Boost Compensated fuelling strategy. It'll start up a car with 680cc injectors without any fuss and get you tuning. I think I made a few tweaks here and there.

The "Russ-FinalInitialCalibration_680_[1].V1.11.cal" map is a map which I tuned for a friend with a twin TD05-16G car. It is an early 1st gen car, which has an adjustable CAS. That partially explains the ignition sync difference.

In the "Fuel_Setup" tab, the "Fuel off below load" is at -13.1 PSIg because my motor is higher compression and has a VERY low leakdown value and breathes very easy. The ones on the "Russ" and 1000cc map look to be a bit high of values to me, but it depends a bit on the sensor accuracy as well as how much vacuum your particular car pulls at very low cruise load.

In my map, O2FB Accel Clear, O2FB DFCO, etc. are turned off. In the Russ map it is turned on as we did calibrate his O2FB before I uploaded the map. I my startup map it is just the basemap values. I my actual running map those features are enabled and the various time parameters are adjusted to work best on my particular car.

The knock strategy on the 1000ccPTE map looks pretty aggressive - meaning that it probably isn't terribly effective while tuning. The fuel add values are very low, and the decay duration is quite short.

Not sure why EGT is set up in my MattStartup map... Shouldn't be, unless I created that map for someone's specific set of mods (which would be noted in the post on the AEM Forum where you got the map if that was the case). I do have an AEM EGT probe, but it is not in use yet.

hmm for an "ultimate resource thread" it sure is lacking..

how about some pics of:

the various screens and what they do, how they are used. Where do you plug in timing/fuel settings/cells?

the monitoring screen so you can see what's going on while you're going down the road.

How about some pics of the logs to show us what they look like.

Mellon,
I have a vfaq for the EMS that I started putting together a couple years ago and it has quite a few screenshots in it. Its a ~ 2meg word document that I can email someone if they will host it. It is not the most current (its for version 0.97/1.03) but it gives some good info (IMO)...

Wayne

excellent, thanks Wayne. I've never seen the EMS so it's hard to visualize it without pics.

Excellent, Thank you Matt.
Can you explain in two words what O2FB Accel Clear, O2FB DFCO do?

O2FB Accel Clear, when checked, sets the AEM to reset its O2 Feedback fuel change percentage to zero when you trigger a fuelling change in the Accel Fuel table (ie: when you increasee throttle a significant amount in a short period of time). In general, you don't want to do apply O2 Feedback fuel changes in cases where the rate of load or RPM change on the motor is high (rather, your map should be accurate enough to provide proper fuel in those situations). O2 Feedback is best at handling steady-state cruising conditions.

O2FB DFCO is the same thing as Accel Clear, only it occurs when you use Decelleration Fuel Cut Off. DFCO is triggered when load is below whatever value to set it to trigger at. It cuts fuel completely when you are totally off the throttle, preventing backfiring and improving gas mileage.
